I had two rabbits, sisters, would be 11 weeks on Sunday. One died tonight. What about her sister? How will she react?

Not too much, I would say. This is still the age when rabbits get sold and seperated anyway, that isn't so much different, and with puberty coming on she'll have some other things on her mind. She might miss her company, never was alone before in her life, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to spend more time with her, just being present.

Do you know why this rabbit died? Just to be sure it will not something that is a danger to the second rabbit too.

I’m
Not sure why she died we are thinking rhd2 (she has her vaccination on Thursday but I’ve now moved it forward to Monday)
She had all the symptoms of it.

How soon would be good for a bonding friend? She has been with her sister all her life so will probably get lonely soon

Can't bond until after she's spayed. Baby "bonds" (being with her sister) don't count as true bonds anyway. No guarantee she would have remained bonded with her sister.

Do you house them indoors or out? Indoors she's less likely to be lonely.

Why doesn’t it count as real bonding? She’s indoor rabbit

Because all baby rabbits get along. It is when hormones kick in that the cuddliest of baby rabbits can turn on each other and start getting aggressive towards each other. Sometimes it turns into outright fighting. Once they are both fixed, whether or not they agree to bond is anyone's guess. It could go either way. In other words, being together as babies means nothing towards future bonding (unless they fight bad enough it could destroy their chance of bonding).

The most recommended way to find a bondmate for a rabbit is to introduce two already-fixed rabbits and assess for potential compatibility. Then the bonding process can begin.

In your case, it would be best to wait until your girl is spayed before introducing her to some potential (already fixed) rabbits.
