Hi, I have 2 female Netherlands and one of them is very skinny! I'm really worried, I'm thinking one is taking the food but their bowls still have food in by the morning. I feed them 1/2 a cup of pellets each day with unlimited hay. I haven't started them on veggies as they are only 10 weeks. I don't know why she's so skinny.

I would be free feeding pellets(or almost free feeding) at that age, a good quality young rabbit pellet with higher protein, as well as providing unlimited hay. They need the extra protein and nutrients that it provides.

You will need to watch this other rabbit to see if she is eating at all. If she isn't get her to an experienced rabbit vet immediately. If she is eating then you need to determine how well she is eating. If you can't tell this while they are together I would try putting them in adjoining enclosures for a short time as long as it doesn't overly stress the thin rabbit. Then do a measured amount of pellets and keep an eye on how much she consumes. If she eats them all, then give her another scoop so she always has some to eat. Also try to gauge how much has she is eating. If she isn't eating well while she is on her own, then I would suggest getting her to the vet for a check up right away. She could have a medical issue that is causing the weight loss such as a dental problem affecting her ability to eat, or an internal parasite. This all needs to be done in a short time as any delay could detrimentally affect her health. A rabbit not eating or barely eating for 12-24 hours, is considered an emergency.

If in doubt it's always best to get them to a good rabbit vet right away to be checked.

Have you watched her to see how much she’s eating? Assuming she is eating normal, my first thought is worms...have you looked at her fresh poop to see if you see anything, or you could get her checked by a vet. The other possibility is she has a genetic issue where her system isn’t absorbing nutrients from her food...wasting syndrome. In this case she will only get worse and there isn’t anything you can do to fix it.
