Hey.. so I just wanted to rant a bit and let out what I've been holding in..
I think that Claudia and I are unhappy and here's why..

I have had Claudia for 9 months now and every day was more beautiful to me than the other with her but recently when university started.. I feel like I've been getting distant from her.. I wake up at 5 AM, leave at 7AM, get home around 1-3 PM really worn out and tired, I take a nap around 5 PM and wake up around 7:30 PM and then I study and such then go to sleep and I don't have time to cuddle or play with her anymore.. My room is still not bunny proofed and being the small animal she is, she can get into places I can't reach so her only places to move are her cage, my desk that has a blanket on it next to the cage and my bed but I haven't even let her out on my bed in a while because in order to do that I have to put her own blanket on it and pillows and such because she still sprays when she binkys.. She spends most of the time napping or flopping.. She got picky with her grass/hay and wouldn't even eat it if she doesn't like it even if she starves..

These thoughts have all been stressing me out that I'm tearing up now as I'm writing this.. I love Clauida so much but I feel like I've been making her unhappy recently.. I don't know what to do about it. I wish I could let her out in my whole bedroom .. I've been even trying to make changes in it to fit her, if only I could get rid of this useless massive wood bed and get something smaller or that doesn't have space underneath that she could hide under..

What do you guys suggest that I do about this?..

Hey Alice

Do you have room for a play pen? There are metal rabbit pens or puppy pens and this could be a good option to give her a bit of room and you could also sit in it with her for some play time?

Sometimes 1 small change at a time can really make you feel better and give you the motivation to do more, maybe make her some homemade toys to play with while you're studying.

I have room but I never found that thing, I asked around for play pens in pet shops and they said they don't have it..

But I talked to dad, I told him I don't care about this massive bed I have in my bedroom, it's literally taking 80% of my room and I don't even need all that space, I don't even move in my sleep, I told him to get rid of it and get me like a 1 person bed that doesn't have a gap underneath where I can't reach and that I wanna get rid of her cage and let her free roam my bedroom, she's litter box trained -though she still sprays when she gets excited I really don't know why even though I spayed her last September.. Or maybe I'll leave her cage and just let her out on the floor more often or something.. I'll make changes for her.
When I wrote that post I got too depressed and picked her up and let her out on the bed and she got so excited she started binkying and jumping and ...spraying as usual but hey, she had fun, so I'm glad for that at least.~

Sounds like you really love your bunny. Am worried because i have to go back to work soon after a healing injury and wont have 1 1/2 hrs of daylight every day to take our bunny out in her outdoor playpen which she just loves. Got her a stuffed animal which she seems to love. In a few weeks, we are hoping to adopt a neutered male for her to keep her company and are just prsying they will bond and be happy together. My significant other is home all day but s allergic. Hope you are able to find a way so you and Claudia are happy. Would love to see a photo.

Hey Alice,

If you need something and can't find it in person, go online. Check Amazon and use phrases such as x-pen or puppy-pen or dog pen. In addition to keeping a rabbit in a pen, you can straighten out a pen to block off things in your room. Sounds like you love her, but you don't have time. As time goes on, you can work on organizing your life more so that you can make time. One hour a day is a good start for just you and her alone, although she should be out of her cage 5 hours a day, according to PETA...but the hour a day I'm talking about is you just spending quality time with your rabbit. Is there any wiggle room in your schedule? Maybe getting up an hour early, or maybe asking a family member to put an hour in of playtime. Having the desire to make your rabbit's life better is the first step and you have that. Go from there. Try new things. See what works and what does not.

One more thing- I would call an exotic vet about the spraying.

Good luck.

I know my post maybe late but I was looking in the my local pet store at the puppy play pins and they were $80 in the store, but I found the exact same one on Chewy for $35 with free shipping!! Show around you can find something, I think the other pen the person above is talking about is called NIC grids maybe? That you can build different shapes with them and change them around. I'm going to look at those too.

I was talking about the pens. The pens you can arrange into different shapes or even a straight line. It's already put together. I saw a room that had the pen (not grid) straightened out to protect objects against the wall from her bunny. The grids you can arrange too, but you do that by building them up (connecting them).

This is great as it has a base so if she sprays then it won’t affect your carpet.. this also folds out , it is made up of 8 panels so can be put into all sorts of shapes and could even be used to block off under your bed :) it is on amazon for £22 (Sorry I’m in UK and not sure on exchange rates)! But I’m sure you will be able to find one online that is closer to you. Best of luck.

I’m sure you will work it all out, you obviously love your bun very much!

Oh no, most of my time home and my days off are all for her. When I'm not around I let her out of her cage all day long and my parents are home and they just love her so much and check on her constantly -which makes me extremely jealous-.

I'm just complaining because before university I used to spend literally all day with her except for when we sleep that's why I feel sad.

Sometimes I skip on napping and hang out with her and even when I'm studying I play with her or have her sleep on my chest. I'm complaining because compared to the hours I used to spend with her, 2-5 hours a day don't seem enough for me.

Claudia means the world to me. I love her so much and just wanna make her happy. Because she made me happy in my worst times.

She loves cuddling so much so it can't be helped.. She's one spoiled little brat that I can't get enough of.

Oh and I live in Iraq so I'm not sure about the whole amazon thing.

Update on us. So... After a lot of arguments, I finally convinced dad that I don't need that big ole wood junk of a king sized bed and that I'm fine sleeping on whatever as long as my room gets spacious and that I can bunny proof it to let Claudia free roam it when I'm not home and thank God.. We managed to do that. Now my room looks a lot nicer, brighter, and Claudia has been running and binkying and jumping all over the carpets and blankets I laid out for her .. And spraying of course, but at least it's not my bed so it's fine, I'll just use a lot of vinegar and sweeping for her but at least she's happy and I don't have to feel bad about it. I just wish she'd stop spraying since I already had her spayed but oh well, as long as she's healthy then it's all fine.~ Thank you all for your sweet messages!~

She's just excited about her new space. Once she gets used to it, she may settle down and stop spraying. I'm very surprised she sprays as much as she does. My spayed does will do it once in a while but not very often.

It's not really a lot, not as much as she used to before her spay surgery, just whenever she gets really excited and starts binkying, she'd spray a few dots. Hopefully it'll go away as she grows up. I'm just glad she's happy.
