Hi!

My 12 day old bunnies keep hopping out of the nesting box. Their eyes are open and their ears are beginning to open up and they're super healthy! But is is okay for them to keep hopping out of the nest box to lay with their mama? I'm just worried something will happen to them during the night when we can't keep an eye on them all the time.

Hi! Around this time they like to explore since they can see and they usually return to their nestbox to sleep at night. I don’t see anything wrong with it as long as it is clean for them. I’m not a professional but this is just my opinion. :)

I think it's probably ok as long as they can get back in so they don't get cold. I've seen advice on here that people turn nest boxes onto their sides when the kits start exploring.

If the kits can't get back in the nestbox on their own once they get out, clean the nestbox out and turn it on it's side, then put a nice pile of soft hay in it so they can nestle up and nap in it. Also provide the mom with a box, shelf, or somewhere where she can get away from the babies if they are pestering her.
