I am wondering how long rabbit labor is and if she is still going to have more kits/babies. I have a Lionhead doe( First time Mom) that had a kit around 12:00 pm today it had been four hours since her first baby. She won't let me touch her belly to feel for more kits. Is it normal for labor to last longer than this and do you think she will have more kits?

First timers can be unpredictable. Normally they have a litter over the course of a couple hours or less. Once in a while we’d have a doe have another one next day but not normally. Much longer than that and they will most likely be dead.

Mine had all hers right away. Shemade her nest... Finally pulled fur... I left for an hour and she was done. I missed everything. I do know the can get pregnant twice. They have a bicornerate uterus. That means they have 2 cervix and 2 uterus.

Give her 1 or 2 days and its really good if she was pulling fur because the more fur they pull the better of a parent they will be

Just keep an eye on her and if she has more babies that's good if not that's also good because she will have more time for the one baby and she will have more milk for her. And I ment hours not days

Okay thank you. I just heard they should deliver all their babies with in 2 hours so that got me worried. She had that one at noon and then the next morning I woke up to 4 more. She pulled a lot of fur and she has been a wonderful mom.

That's good just make sure that the mom can produce enough milk so make sure they are growing well

How long was she with the buck? Rabbits have two uterine horns, and can get "double pregnant," if left with the buck for a few hours.

She is feeding them all well and they are very fat. She is being such a great momma and I am so proud. She was with the buck for a little bit one day, she got 5 fall offs. Then the next day I put her in she got only 1. I did that to insure pregnancy.

Although it’s been known to happen, it isn’t common. In the 9 years we bred rabbits we never had it happen. It’s usually because the doe was accidentally re-bred 1-2 weeks after being initially bred.
