Hey there, I don't know where to put this so let me know if this is the wrong forum subject.

I'm going to be moving soon (in about a month and some) from one city to another, about a 6 hour drive, and I have a pet rabbit. The problem is, I cannot find anyone that is able to drive her up to the new city (I do not have a car).

Does anyone know a Canadian company who can transfer pets? Specifically rabbits? My family has searched everywhere.

And before you suggest: the moving companies do not transfer pets, nor Canada post, UPS, general mail, and local pet breeders.

Slightly time sensitive as we would like to find someone who can be aware of our situation before our moving day, we want to keep our rabbit. :)

Thanks

I don't know if you can find something like that in Canada, but in France we do a lot of 'carsharing' for animals. It's mainly for people adopting from rescues when they can't come and get the animal themselves but people will also help you in situations like yours - you go to a forum about animal rescuing or on the forum of a rescue in particular and ask if someone goes to city x to city Y on the day you need the animal to go. Sometimes you need two or three different people to go the whole way but it works great. My sisters did it by train for a cat once.
Here it's free, except when you do it by train / plane and need to pay for the animal's ticket. So anyway, I don't know if you can find that in Canada but it wouldn't surprise me as it's a problem that must occur everywhere. Can't hurt to find a few Canadian rescue websites and ask, I think...
If you can't find anything... is there no way you can bring the rabbit directly with you? If you can't house the rabbit when you arrive you might look for someone to petsit the rabbit at their house for a few days / weeks. It might be easier than finding someone to transport him.

Thank you for the reply. I will try the Humane Society and other pet shelters. I'm moving from Ottawa, Ontario to Sudbury (still Ontario) and there is only one way I can travel with my bun directly, which would be if my mother's friend is nice and gives us a ride, she's still thinking about it but says to have a backup plan, y'know? :).

Also, I can house the rabbit when I arrive, but getting the rabbit there is the problem!!

Getting someone to 'petsit' is the last thing we want to do. It would be stressful for us, the bun, and whoever's taking care. We're looking for someone who can drive my bun to Sudbury.

There is a Facebook group set up for transporting rabbits. Mostly breeders use them but it might be worth a try posting on it.

Thanks for the reply, I'll check it out! :) really appreciate it.
