Hello, all. My name is Steve and I am a new, first-time owner of a cute lil' fella named Hop Sing (yes, Bonanza). I was wondering about his breed because all I have been told is the pet shop employee THINKS he is a Lionhead Cross? Any ideas?

On a side note, you may want to keep a close eye out for what bunny may chew. In one of your photos, there are books at the ready for chewing, and cords too -- both are usual favorites for most bunnies!

(The vest harness is considered unsafe as well.) There are a few threads on RO that discuss safe vs unsafe harnesses. H-style are considered safe.

he has the build of a lionhead cross without any mane. Could easily be a singlemane cross. At 2 lbs at six months that'll be about as big as he gets. so he's in the ball park for size. If the employee guessed that, I'm guessing they get a lot of that mix in their store so she's learned to spot them.

I dont see any lionhead in this bun nither i had posted this on your other thread but i see maybe some sort of dwarf in it could be Polish mix or Netherland Dwarf cross as most of them stay in the 2 to 3 lb range. If your bun is that size at the full 6 months yours might be as big as it will get. Congrats on your new bun very cute.

Hello! I have been a first time bun mom for a little over 3 months and I have been dying to know what breed Mr.Cadbury is. I have been looking at everything online and it is all so confusing but I think I have narrowed it down to maybe him being a Havana breed but I am still not sure. Can anyone help me out and give me advice on where to look?

I'm seeing a Hothot here.

I think you would be fine in saying he is a Hotot mix. They are an all white breed with rings around both of their eyes. They tend to be smaller. He could just happen to be a total mix that just came out that way but if you want to put a name on it a Hotot mix is what he looks like.

As far as Mr. Cadbury goes your bunny is most likely a Chocolate Polish rabbit. They are a smaller breed with no real outstanding characteristics but the best part of them is their personality. My mom and I used to breed them and I'm going to say Cadbury definitely looks like a Polish. If Cadbury is around the weight of 2-3lbs then that is accurate. If he is bigger then you could say Havana but with those short ears I'm going to guess he is a small bunny

woahlookitsme, i agree and i was going to say Polish as well even though my pedigree polish dwarf has more a rounder flatter face with smaller ears Cadbury deffinately looks chocolate Polish or a Polish mix. None the less thats still a very beautiful color bun i just love chocolate buns there so pretty... This is my Polish Dwarf for comparison.

Cadbury0317 - He certainly looks like a Havana or Havana mix to me, he has the chocolate color. How old is he? According to this site, http://www.petguide.com/breeds/rabbit/havana-rabbit/, Havana's don't get over 6 1/2 lbs as adults.

Many breeds come in the chocolate color. Havanas actually aren't a common bunny to find and because of this aren't normally found as pet bunnies. Most pet stores want small bunnies to sell so they get breeds like polish, lionheads, Netherland dwarfs, mini rex, and holland lops or mixes of those breeds. The size Of the rabbit is what will give a hint to breed. The reason I said polish was because of the short ears. Havanas will have ears about 1.5 length of their head where as polish ears are about the length as their head or even some are shorter. Though the main reason I say polish is because they are more common especially as pets because of their disposition

He is definitely no small rabbit for sure. He probably weighs between 3 to 4lbs. right now. I meet with a guy who breeds rabbits and he told me that he could probably be mixed. Not sure if what thought. I was thinking of Havana mixed with something else but not entirely sure. I am also not aware of where the people who I adopted him from got him but they said they got him from a pet store.

These are some very recent pictures of him. He has grown since then so not sure if this changes anything

I think he still looks like a polish or polish mix lol. When people are breeding to sell to pet stores they probably aren’t going to have rabbits that will win a show so they may not be exactly the same size as a show bunny. My mom had one REW polish who was a pretty big girl herself.

Whatever he is he is super cute Chocolate and Blues are my favorite colors

Thanks for the info! People ask me all the time what breed he is and I usually have to tell them that I dont know and that I adopted him from a friend of mine and that they dont even know. And he may look super cute but dont let that fool you he is super spoiled and can be a major brat lol.

By the way, I love the name!! Bonanza is a great old show, and "Hop Sing" is too cute!
