We unexpectedly took in a foster kitten who may become our kitten but we are nervous about having a cat and a rabbit. Our rabbit is 5 and has been an only house rabbit his whole life. The kitten is about 4 months old and seems pretty chill... just wanting to learn as much as we can. They are separated completely right now and will be until the kitten has gotten a clean bill of health and gets neutered...
does anyone have any tips on introductions and life with a cat and rabbit in the same home?

I've posted this pic quite a few times before but it's so darn cute I can't help it! It's proof that cats and rabbits can live together in harmony. Cats and rabbits can get along well depending on the cat. I would first start by trimming the cats nails (they can unintentionally hurt a bun) particularly with kittens (who don't understand boundaries yet in general). I would see how they react at first, discourage any hunting behaviors (e.g. prowling, chittering, etc.) toward the rabbit, and lots of praise and rewards on both sides. Often it really just does depend on the cat and the rabbit though- not necessarily what you do.

We adopted a bunny with our 3 cats this year and the cats surprisingly get along quite well with him. Before we moved to a new home, I would have even considered them friends. We are having territory issues since we've moved, disruptions in the hierarchy and all that jazz. Fun stuff! (No not really...)

My suggestions are try it as long as everyone is neutered and you are there to supervise. Someone on here also told me on a different thread about bunnies and cats that bunnies shouldn't drink the cat's water because there's certain bacteria that cats can carry in their mouths that could make bunnies sick.

Have fun with your new roomies!

Thank you for the advice! I am in the vet field so i knew about not sharing water bowls. The rabbit doesnt go in the kitchen so all of the cats stuff is out of reach. But it is reassuring to hear from someone whos had positive experiences with cats and bunnies! Hope yours become friends again soon!
