Hello!

I have a ~5 month old rabbit Nigel who just had a sneezing fit. He was in the midst of exploring around the house and he must've sneezed about 10 times. Afterwards I looked at his nose and there was a teeny tiny bit of white charge next to his nose. He doesn't have any 'matting' on his front paws or any discharge near his eyes. He is behaving normally. Should I be concerned about him having snuffles? Should I take him to the vet?

Thanks :)

It could just be he got some dust in his nose but if it continues over the next couple of days I would take him to the vet. My bunny began sneezing with no discharge and was acting normal in every way in November 2015 then he started making a gurgle congested sound when I picked him up in December. Long story short, whatever all that was it had turned to pneumonia by April this year and he had to be on really strong meds and oxygen but he was completely cured by July. I'm not saying that will happen to your bunny but definitely follow up with you vet if it continues. Good luck!

One sneezing fit with a little bit of snot, is not a big deal in my book. We have had two rabbits with serious respiratory issues, and when we first hear a sneeze, we just start counting from that point. After a three or four of those kinds of sneezing fits, we would take them to the vet to get checked. Just stay alert - keep watch for stress breathing, sneezing, nasal discharge, etc. When rabbits are excited, they tend to smell everything, so it might have been dust or something else that irritated their nose and made them sneeze. If you see any other signs that something could be brewing then don't wait too long to get your bunny to the vet.
