So I think my rabbits have a phobia of hard wood floor. They absolute refuse to walk on it and I'm pretty sure they are mad that we ripped up our carpet. So now our whole house except for the bathroom and kitchen are hard wood. I was hoping someone would have a bunny safe idea to getting then to walk on the hard wood? Or even some sort of carpet or matting?

If all else fails, buy a rug! Your rabbits most likely don't like the hard wood because they slide around on it. My rabbits much prefer carpeting over hard wood. They probably feel more secure because they aren't almost flopping over, or sliding out.

Agree it's definitely what I call a 'gription' issue. The good news is you can use this phobia to keep them where you want them. I have hardwoods all through the first floor but I have a large area rug in the living room that belongs to the bun. Of course. For exercise though, I bought a length of indoor outdoor carpeting and cut it into 2 ft wide slices and lay that around the middle (closets and steps are in the center of the house). I call this the 'racetrack'. Sometimes you can have success with 'islands'. My guy will take a few steps on hardwood as long as he knows he has a landing site.

They also many times get used to it. Mine didn't like it either and would avoid it but now are too curious not to venture out onto it

MaryAnne answered the question. My anecdotes. We have an all hardwood floor in the kitchen. Our Flemish babies will not go there because of the slick floor. Actually we have all hardwood floors, but the living room, dining room, hall way to the bedrooms, all have throw rugs. For some open expanses of hardwood floors, we've laid down little throw rugs or an occasional carpet tile or so to accomodate the rabbits. My rabbits, one past and two present, like to run and exercise in the house. I say they're playing silly buggers! With strategic placed throw rugs and carpet squares, they can get up to a pretty fast running velocity in the house, avoiding the slick hardwood floors by jumping from throw rug to carpet square, etc. As I related in another post, it's so much fun watching them do acrobatics as they jump up and off furniture, coffee tables. Since we have two sisters, they both just love to run and play together.

I definitely agree with that too. Mine are now ok with it, but if they see carpet they're gone! 😊
