It started about 4pm yesterday with the thumping, as most people know this is "Danger!" or "I am really upset.". Then a few hours when by and he started chewy grindy teeth... I put my finger in his mouth to inspect and almost got bit, good thing they are not carnivorous. Teeth all seemed fine.

Then close to my bedtime, the drooling started. But not the normal drooling the smelly kind. I couldn't take him into a vet until the morning so I kept an eye on him and researched the internet. All the stuff I found was not an emergency but it also wasn't good news either.
:bed:
I finally decided I really needed at least 4 hours of sleep to make it in to work, so I went to bed at 4am. When I woke up to my alarm, he is looking just fine. No drool, no teeth grinding, no thumping... I called a friend over and told Baron to keep an eye on his bunnysitter.

So here I am at work feeling like leftover crud, and I called the house and he tells me that Baron pooped all over, huge and softy about half an inch long logs! Other than that he seems to be ok. Did he just have a 24 hour rabbit flu?

I am going to tell the boss I am not feeling well and head back home early today. Because I don't think he will go for the sick rabbit excuse. Depending on what I observe, I will decide then about taking him to the vet. My friend might be exaggerating the size of those poops. When I see them for myself I will let you guys know.

BTW before someone asks, never had surgery of any kind, the Baron and I are both as God made us. ;D

Well he seems fit and active, I am going to call it a day and get some sleep. Now my paycheck is going to be short 3.5 hours, but cheaper than a visit to the vet. There was some long logs here but his poop is even returning to normal harden pellets. I didn't get a yardstick out and measure them but almost half an inch long!

Now he is sitting on the bed behind me, honking and cleaning himself. He is going to have to move over, I plan on passing out there.

I am back at work today, Baron had laid a few of those soft presents in my bed last night. I am afraid he thinks I am punishing him for being sick but he is our bedroom until I get back home. I cannot afford to steam clean the carpet this month. I can't have him running the house while I am here today.

I never understand why co-workers treat you like a deadly disease the next day after claiming an illness. Even the boss won't come visit me. Time to get back to work and stop goofing off. LOL

Ummm no extra yummies imho. I would keep him strictly on hay until his poops are all back to normal. I would try and watch him very carefully until you're sure he's ok. Since he is free roam could he have gotten into something while you were not home? He's not eating the peat in his box I hope?

Good morning, my sleep schedule is now off thanks to him. :)

Well since his poops was softy, looking like blackberries. I am NOT giving him extra fiber (shredded wheat) being his all time treats. His poop is returning to very normal dry. So I may start treating him later today. He has fresh timothy hay but never witness him eating any it.

As to him "getting into anything", before Friday he had full roam of the kitchen, living room, upstairs, and our bedroom. Never the bathroom ever since he pooped in my shower. Nothing is chewed or was left out on the floor for him other than his peat litter, water, pellets, and hay.

I know this is flu season, I am not a medical doctor but I know rabbits can get the flu and or a common cold. I was informed by my doctor sometime ago, that a flu hits hard and fast and is gone in 24 hours. He explained, colds take time to build up with runny nose and coughing caused by mucus and last for several days. While a cold can never jump from animal to human, flu virus (swine and bird flu) has been able to mutate and cross over.

So if I end up getting big ears and a fluffy tail this weekend, I KNOW who to blame!

Hey! Minus the thumping my bun has been acting the same! He has drool allmiver his little face and weird long muchy poops. Hes acting fine and eating and drinking but im so worries about my little fur nugget. Its only veen a day, has your bunny been acting normal since? I do hope this passes!

Yes they were cecotrope, but maybe twice the normal size and he wasn't eating them. Everything is very normal (if you can say that about rabbit behavior) and I assume this was just a flu he may have picked up from the last visit to the vet. You have to figure it was the vet because as I know flu doesn't normally jump species. So there may have been another rabbit with a flu in the waiting room?

If it went on for more than it did or got worse, I would have taken him to the vet. He seems normal for his state of mind. His next check up is in April.
