I'll bet there are some funny stories about how people named their rabbits. I'd like to hear them.

Harvey's story is kind of dumb.
We requested a male from the breeder. Once they sexed the babies, they set aside the male fawn for us, and called wanting to know his name. They needed it for his pedigree. I had planned on waiting to see the little guys personality, and naming him based on that, but the pedigree paperwork couldn't wait so I had to think of a name on the spot with no warning, and the first name to pop into my head was Harvey, from the old Jimmy Stewart movie. I figured we would change his name later. But "Harvey" just stuck. Later, when we took him to the vet to be neutered, the vet had a surprise for us. Harvey was a doe. But the name Harvey still stuck.

When I was a child, I had always wanted a rabbit called Fluffy. I decided named one of my buns Fluffy to follow my childhood dreams haha. I named my other bun "Daisy" because she is very elegant like a flower and is very graceful like a flower.

For me my bunnies name themselves... It sounds weird but yeah I have a list and I look at the bunny and I choose a name 😂

We wanted to name Steve right away but nothing was coming to us. At the shelter they said his name was shadow but that was a bit generic for us. We couldn't think of a name. Finally we settled on Steve, as generic (for humans) as you can get lol. Every time we called him by that name we would giggle so we knew it was a good fit.

As for Cali, I think we went through a list online. Her shelter name was sweet Marie. Didn't like it. But we should have waited because once we got to know her I realized I should have named her Francine, after that bully on the Simpsons. Both redheads, both not very bright, both a little mean. I love Cali though, I respect her independent spirit. Can you see the resemblance?

I arrived at the name Lindt, just because of my love of chocolate. He is a yellow giant continental :)

My one rabbits name is Moonlight. When she was younger, most of her belly was white, and the rest of her was black. But in between the black and white was a silver strip all the way around her body. Not gray, SILVER. I was looking at her the night we got her, and it happened to be a full moon. I looked at the bright white moon, then the silver that rings it before the black sky and then looked at my one bunny. I simply thought, she looks likes the moon tonight. And the name Moonlight was born! As she got older, the silver faded the the black mostly took over, but I think she still looks like the sky at night!

My other rabbit is named Mistletoe (or Missy). I simply liked that name and it stuck quickly. It's kind of cute because I always call her Missy, but when ever she is in trouble I use the name Mistletoe (her real name) and whenever I do that she knows she is in trouble. It is so hilarious because she stops what ever she is doing and looks right at me. Sometimes I do use the name mistletoe just when ever I am talking to her, and she can tell the difference between Mistletoe (as in I love you) and Mistletoe (you are in trouble, what the heck did you do)

All of ours are rescues, but some came with a name they knew so they kept it.The rest came from TV, films and books. Don't think we need to dwell on Bambi or Peter. then there is Hutch from Wallace and Grommet "Curse of the Were Rabbit". Nikki, our avatar from "The Celery Stalks at Midnight" where the main is named Bunnicula. Cosmo, from Seinfeld. Our very first little girl, because of her attitude, "Commander Bun-Bun" from the Drew Carey show. Hoss from Bonanza. Stewart, as he was little and who doesn't want a bunny named Stew? Stockton for Commodore Stockton out of the CA history book. and so on.................

Pluto - I love space and when I first brought Pluto home, he was really small and cute! Like Pluto!

Bella - She was already named when I bought her :)

Cloud - Cloud is blind in one eye and his eye looks like a little cloud is inside :D

Sonic - his full name is SuperSonic. I called him that because he escaped my dog, who is an incredibly fast border collie mix! He is faster than the speed of sound ;)

Emerald - Her mothers name is Emily and Emerald reminds me so much of her mother, so that's how she got her name.

Breeze (R.I.P) - Breeze was a little Vienna with beautiful blue eyes! She was as soft and gentle as a breeze.

Chilli (R.I.P) - I can't quite remember how I got Chilli's name, but it marched him!

Daisy - She was called Petal by her old owner, but I felt as though it didn't suit. To get Daisy's name, I spoke to friends and family and it was what we all decided on :D

Emily - Named when I got her :)

For Aki, I decided to give her a Japanese name because I didn't know if she was a boy or a girl (she was my first rabbit ^^) and Japanese names are mostly unisex. I got her during the fall and Aki means autumn so...
Pandora was from the Anne Rice vampire series and I really liked the sound of the name. It turned out Pandora was a boy, but by the time I discovered that fact he knew his name well so... I left it as it was and it didn't sound weird to me ^^.
Tybalt is from Romeo and Juliet. I don't really know. I read lists and lists of rabbit's names before going to the breeder to see him. I couldn't find anything I liked. When I went back into the car after seeing him, my friend asked me if I had picked a name and I said 'no, I don't know. I will probably end up giving him some weird name like Tybalt or something'. I don't know at all why it came to my mind. But then I was like 'Eh, Tybalt! That's it!' ^^

I think I did a better job with my rabbits than with my dog. He is named Jeeves after the Wodehouse series and in France, nobody can pronounce his name right. My petsitters are always complaining they can't call him and end up calling him 'gypse' XD

Spike is named after Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I also thought it was adorable to have a 2lb rabbit with such a tough sounding name. The first time I brought him to the vet, they all laughed their heads off when I pulled him out of the carrier.
