Hi all. New to the forum and hope you can help me. My Bunny passed very suddenly this morning. I know he was ok around 6am as my OH fed him this morning, he said he seemed slow but didn't think much of it. Around 7am I found him after his final bunny flop 😢. He was a terribly mischievous little bun who loved to pull up carpets and gnaw on the spines of books on our shelves. I'm so worried that I have done something wrong that has caused this. We found him in our garden last summer, and took him in as we live on a main road and worried he would be knocked over. I always wanted a house rabbit but was never allowed one when I was younger, so he seemed sent from heaven just for me. Because of this I don't know how old he was, or even if he was a he or a she, but I always thought he had a naughty little boy quality about him. I am devastated that my little bun is gone. I loved him very much.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, it's difficult to know why he passed, bunnies are so good at hiding their illnesses. It seems like you gave him such a great home though.

Unfortunately without a necropsy and with no other signs it's impossible to know what caused his death. Though it's harder on us humans to have no warning, I think it's better for them when they go suddenly and have been eating and enjoying life right up to the last minute.

Thank you, I hope that's how it happened. I am heartbroken to have lost him.

So sorry for your loss! I lost my first bunny back in December so I know exactly how your feeling! and it's tough not to blame yourself, even tho it's not your fault! When your ready you should think about adopting another bunny! you seemed to have given him a great home and there are plenty of bunnies out there that need a good mom😃

My condolences to you and your family, I know it's truly heartbreaking!

I'm am so sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a bunny is never easy, and its all the harder when you have no warning. Binky free, lil bun :rainbow:

I'm sort of addicted to reading bunny forums and bunnies seem to die often, all of a sudden with no symptoms, at least way more than dogs are cats do. It could have been so many things. One person I know got a necropsy because hers died suddenly and they found a tear in the intestine but there was nothing found in the intestine that made the tear so a still a mystery. So, anyway I'm sure its nothing you have done, just one of those things that happens. Sorry for your loss.

Thank you all, I appreciate your contributions and sympathy. Going to bury him in my friends allotment on Saturday so he can hop free among the veg. Xxx

I have no experience or advice to offer, but I wanted to just say I am so sorry about your loss. What a beautiful rabbit! And what a beautiful heart you have for taking him into your home and loving him the way you obviously did.
