I got my rabbit last Sunday 08-24-14 in a good pet store, and just about two days ago I noticed something weird on my rabbit's chin. He is 13 weeks old.
When I touched it, it felt rough and he's not letting me really take a good look, and I'm new to rabbits! I tried googling it but so far nothing helpful comes up, and I saw some similar rabbits but since I haven't taken a good look at his chin I'm not sure.
So if anyone has any input on this it would be really helpful :anyone: it's really worrying me.
He's not showing any signs of pain, eats and drinks water normally, he has not injured himself and he jumps around like a happy rabbit! I'm sorry for not having a better image but my bunny is new and he's still kind of shy. I'm not sure if he was like that when I got him, since I wanted to let him be while he got used to his home.

Im no expert, but I think this is normal. My Guy has a little rough patch too and this is what bunnies do their marking (chinning) with. You may notice him rubbing things with his chin. That's him laying ownership to things. Does he scratch at his chin like it's irritated? Maybe you can slip a mirror under for a better look. If its not scabby or irritated, its most likely normal. He's gorgeous by the way. :)

Is the fur under there, discolored and green at all? A better pic would help to possibly determine if it is something that needs vet treatment.

That is where males mark territory. My male chins everything!

It's not green just a little rough and brown/a little dark . His fur under his chin is white so that's how I noticed.

The dark spot does look a little weird to me. Neither of my bunnies have any distinct spots/different fur under their chins, apart from the hair there being shorter and rougher. Could you flip him upside down on your lap and get a clearer pic of his chin?

I don't see any discoloration in those pics, but I notice his teeth look a smidge overgrown. Possible malocclusion and drooling making his chin look kinda ragged?

If it was a problem with his teeth would i need to take him to the vet? He neglects his wooden toys but loves munching on his hidey house and i've had no problems with him eating his pellets or hay. I've also tried several other toys like a crunchy fake corn thing (which he loved) :) and a similar carrot but he didn't like that one as much

You could try drizzling some pineapple juice or something sweet on the wood in hopes that he will try to nibble and play with them more. Or you could try another type of wooden chew.
