About 5 weeks ago I received two adorable rabbit only 10 weeks old from my brother's girlfriend as a late birthday present . I have been wanting a rabbit ever since I can remember .

So my rabbits (muffin & nibbles) are the first rabbit I have ever owned . I have done a tone of research about them for months so I know a lot about there diet etc.

When I got the rabbit's she told me the breeder said it was two females and i read somewhere that two unneutered female rabbit won't fight and will get along just as well as two neuter rabbits so I thought that's great I won't have to neuter them and they will be fine

But today when I was grooming muffin I noticed she is not a female she is a male rabbit and at that point I was really worried

I DONT WANT BABIES !

I am planing on neutering them asap ! But while I am saving up for that . I need to know if I need to seperate them now or are they not fully sexualy mature and are ok to live together for a bit .

I don't really want to seperate them . They love each other alot and are always cuddling up together and when I take one away from the other to groom them the other one goes crazy until I put her back and im afraid if I seperate them they will loss that bond and i have to reintroduce them and what if they don't like each other

U have heard stories where when they seperate the rabbit's they couldn't bond them back together

Please someone help me !!

Absolutely separate them immediately. Otherwise she will end up pregnant. He is fertile. They will need to stay separated until both are fixed. He can probably already be scheduled. You may need to wait a month or two before she can be spayed. So they will need to be separated anyway until she is done and healed.

Don't worry about the bonding because it doesn't matter how snuggly they are before they are fixed. Once they are fixed it will be new all over again. Baby 'bonds' simply don't count as true bonds. So separating them now isn't going to negatively affect any future chances of bonding. If anything, separating them now can help future bonding if it prevents them from having any squabbles in the meantime. With their increasing hormones, there is always the risk that they will begin to fight. (I realize that may seem unfathomable if you are now seeing them so snuggly, but it is not at all unusual for snuggly, cuddly baby bunnies to suddenly turn on each other during this time.)

So, yes, separate them. You can, however, keep their cages near each other if you like. Just don't let them interact at all -- even for a couple minutes --- otherwise you may end up with a pregnant girl (or fighting). Oh, and don't let the cages be touching since males have been known to impregnate a female through the cage divider!

Ok I will seperate them but I only gave one cage and i don't know how I would go about separating them but ill make a plane !

Hiw much would u say it is to get them fixed in ireland ?

Exercise pens (puppy pens) can make great temporary cages. They also come in handy for other uses for any bunny owner. I use mine for temporary outside playtime, for introducing new exercise areas (so as not to provide too much freedom too soon), & for use as a travel cage if needed.

Someone from Ireland would need to chime in on neuter costs. Even in the States, prices can vary wildly.

He will cost more than she, so do him first. As someone stated, it's a bit early for her. But for both of them, unless you're planning to breed, it's best to spay/neuter. Particularly for the female, it can avoid hundreds of dollars of vet bills in the future should she get a uterine cancer, which is common in female rabbits.

Thank you so much I will definitely get my hand on one of these .. can't find to get one local so ill order online

Sorry to post twice I thought it didn't send the first time heheh

If you've had them for five weeks, making your doe and buck 15 weeks old, then it's possible that she's already pregnant. They still need to be separated, but it's worth being prepared for that and keeping an eye out for the signs, just in case she kindles and you need to supply a nest box etc.

Oh my goodness well i keep an eye on her let's hope that's not the case tho :/

So I have just seperate them I will put in a picture of her set up

They are in my bedroom . My room is very small so I just blocked of some of the areas like under my bed ,wardrobe etc.

But she will just have to roam free in my room until I can get an ex-pen . I will order a pen nxt week some time and will probably get here in two weeks ...

I will be switching the rabbit's every 4 hours so that way muffin also gets to run around and get exercise to !

And one of the rabbit's will have to spent the night on the floor which I'm kind of worried about safety and everything . Does anyone els have there rabbits sleep in there room free roaming ? Is there any safety precautions I need to take I know to take away all wires away and stuff ... I'll put in a picture of the rabbits cage also

Thank you for all your advise it has helped alot

Also I contacted a vet and it's €100 each to get both female and male neuterd but if I take them both to get neuterd at the same time I get 10% discount which would be €180 altogether it will take me 3 months to save up for this I am still in secondary school and I only get €15 a week but I don't mind saving up for it .. whatever Is best for the bunnies <3

I know that there is a high possibility that she is already pregnant so if anyone could please help me on how I would go about on confirming that she is pregnant ! And what do I do when the babies come !

Can you get close enough to feel her stomach? I do this with my two brother and sister that are not fixed. I think the free range is fine, but if you are worried about her at night, get her in a cage if you are worried about stepping on her. I did that with Lady, my Holland lop and then put two nightlights out one in the bathroom and one in the hallway and put her cage in her hallway so she could go there.
