Dear All,
We really need your advice on this one. We have been living in Indonesia for quite a while and there is no rabbit savvy vet in the country. We are living with a ten year old Lionhead Rabbit, Luna.
Lately we observed that Luna is limping a bit with her right leg. She is one of those Lionhead bunnies, whose feet's bottoms are furred as well (pretty long fur, if I may add). As we turned her around today and examined her feet, it seems that on one (only one) of her toes, the fur has separated in opposite directions and has knotted itself around her other toes. It seemed to have stretched the skin so much, that it has torn the skin, exposing the bone underneath.
We have trimmed the fur but the tear is still pretty much covered in fur right now and there is no blood. The torn spot is right under the toe and doesn't extend to the foot. I can see about 1cm of white bone in length.
Please see attached pic. It's not Luna's foot, just a pic I got from the net. The purple spot marks the position of the wound
I need your advice on this. What is the best way to treat such an injury?
As I said earlier. There are no rabbit savvy vets or any other credible vets other than those who treat cattle and such in our area.
Your input is very much appreciated!
