I have just been informed that due to Miko's Malocclusion he may have to be euthanized, I want to put a call out to all of the beautiful people on this site to send him love and positive vibes during this difficult time and just keep him in your mind while we figure out the best option for my baby boy Miko.

I'm so sorry to hear. Prayers are being sent your way.

I have never heard of a rabbit needing to be euthanised just because of malocclusion. Any decent rabbit vet should be able to burr down or even just clip off overgrown teeth and molar spurs. Even removing the problem teeth is a better option than putting him down. There must be more to this?

we are still hopeful that there is a more positive outcome for miko but due to an already forming ulcer in his mouth the vet we have seen so far did not seem very hopeful... he is going to get x-rays and a second opinion in about an hour at a different vets... i will do all in my power to keep him alive and happy.

If you can afford regular dental treatmet, there is NO reason a rabbit needs to be euthanized for malocclusion and an ulcer. These type of things are pretty common in rabbits and can usually be fairly simply treated by a good rabbit vet with the appropriate dental treatment, either burring the teeth down or even possible tooth extraction. Once the teeth are taken care of, the ulcer will heal. Though if there is infection it will be more difficult and will require more treatment. But these things can be treated, with only the very rare exception where pts may be a consideration for a very severe case.

I hope the second vet you are seeing is a good rabbit vet and will give you a more accurate prognosis for your bun. If you still need to find a good rabbit vet, you may be able to find one on these lists.

the second vet had a much more positive outlook, the abscess has not eaten into the bone and he is on antibiotics and fluids (etc) + critical care until he is well enough for an operation to remove the abscess and clip his teeth.

At this stage he has a 50/50 chance.

Glad to hear you have a much more positive prognosis for your bun. I hope it all goes well and your bun is able to get the dental done soon.

Big prayers for Miko! Get strong little one and be well!
