Hello can anyone please tell me what breed my rabbit might be?
I had come across her and fell in love with her straight away but have know idea what breed she might be? I have now had her for 3.5 months and not knowing is frustrating me because I want to make sure I am providing her with the best care possible.

Thankyou

Jess

There is a key on the Forum page to help you identify what breed your rabbit might be. Click on "Forum" in the green bar near the top of the page, scroll down to the "Rabbit Knowledge Library," then click on "Library: Bunny Breeds" and follow the directions from there.

Post us a picture too so we can help and let us know your bunny's weight and age.

I don't think the breed matters so much as far as caring for your rabbit. They all need the same kind of foods, just different amounts based on weight, and longer fur needs to be groomed more than short.

The direct link to our Rabbits Online Identification Key is http://www.rabbitsonline.net/f29/what-breed-my-bunny-start-here-77893/

Work through the questions in the key, and you'll probably come close to identifying your rabbit's breed - but be aware that it's perfectly possible, likely even, that she might simply be of no particular breed at all. That really doesn't make any difference, as the personality of the rabbit is very individual, much more determined by herself than by her breed.

Its hard to tell with out a side profile picture. She is going to be bigger, you can tell that by looking at her face, ears, bone and backfeet. However its hards to tell which breed she is. She could be a chinchilla (standard, american, giant) or she could be a light gray flemish Giant. Could you provide a photo of her "posing" to the side? It would allow us to see her structure and provide a better estimate to what she may be. Did you get her from a breeder or did you adopt her? If she was adopted she may be a mix of different breeds-even if she comes from a breeder she could still be a mix.

This photo is from a while ago so she is bigger than this now, will have to take a photo of her tomorrow. She is growing fast.

knowing what breed your bunny is or isn't won't help you in providing better care. What helps with that is simply watching and observing your bunny.

Some bunnies are calm and quiet and don't like a lot of noise and bustle about them. Give them a space that's all their own and lock them away when you have company (so that others respect their need for quietness).
Other Bunnies like to be right in the middle of everything. So give them stuff to dig in, wreck, explore etc.
some like to watch you from a distance (so provide them with safe sitting/hiding places)

It's just a matter of knowing your bunny.

Your bunny looks like a chinchilla...though not quite the right head shape. Most likely a mixed breed, based on a commercial type body. Could anything from a flemmish cross (though not highly likely as they have a different body shape often), nz cross, palomino cross... most anything. :)

Just learn your Bunny and then provide for his needs/wants as best you can.
