Sorry about the username, this is SnowyShiloh. I got a new laptop several days ago and apparently my password for my regular account was changed from what it had been for years and years, don't remember what it was changed to and I don't have access to the e-mail address I used when I created the SnowyShiloh account! I created this account a few years ago so I could make a few posts from the point of view of my bunny, Rory. Anyhoo, explanation aside...

Earlier this evening, I found a lump on my little man's belly. He's an approximately 5 year old unneutered Polish boy (he'll get neutered, just haven't gotten around to it yet- we've had him less than a year and recently acquired $15,000 worth of my own medical bills so we're only doing the necessities right now, plus we spent $300 earlier today for the necropsy and cremation of my beloved little Mabel bunny). He's nice and plump and healthy, acting completely normal, eats his timothy pellets and hay and veggies. The lump is the size of a small pea and is in line with where his nipples must run. I can't tell if it's actually under a nipple or not because his nipples are tiny and hard to see. Can't tell if it's red either because his skin under his fur is very dark (he's chocolate colored). I'm not sure if it hurt him or not when I touched him, he did flinch once when I touched it but not the other times and he's kind of high strung so the flinch may have been unrelated.

Does anyone know what this could be? I'm very worried. In the morning I will of course make a vet appointment for him, I really hope it's nothing serious :( Cyst maybe, or abscess, or benign tumor...

We just got back from his appointment, the doctor got a sample of skin cells, looked at them under the microscope, and confirmed that it's a tumor :( She kept him there at the clinic so she can do surgery to remove it, he's going to get neutered as well. Please wish Tobie luck!

Thanks, Pup :)

The vet called to say Tobie is waking up from the anesthesia and the surgeries went well! She said the tissue around the tumor looked normal and the neuter went fine. We will get the pathology report next week and find out if the tumor is cancerous or what. He will come home with pain meds, we can go get him in a couple of hours :) Can't wait to see him again!

My little guy is home and resting! I will update when the pathology report comes back.

Poor Tobie, he doesn't feel good :( He's had some diarrhea tonight and is just sitting in the corner of his cage. He's eaten some veggies and a bit of pellets and hay, though. I gave him his Metacam, he has a 7 day supply of it. Hopefully tomorrow he will not be so miserable!

I'm sorry Tobie isn't feeling well. Poor guy :( Hopefully the diarrhea clears up soon and he starts feeling better. I'm glad the surgery went well. I hope whatever the lump was, it's not too serious.

Does Tobie happen to be the rabbit formerly named Howard, that used to be your neighbors rabbit? Sorry, I kind of lost track of what you decided to name him, but your description of a chocolate polish bun above, made me wonder.

JBun, yes, Tobie (Toblerone) is the bunny formerly known as Howard (and we actually call him "the bunny formerly known as Howard" sometimes). He's still feeling under the weather today and not moving around a lot, but he hasn't had any diarrhea since yesterday and his poops are both normal and plentiful.

I'm glad we adopted him, what if whoever he was with right now wouldn't take him to the vet? :( Tumors are not something I want to mess around with! Gotta come off right away.

Surgery and anesthesia can be so hard on our rabbits. When I got one of my boys neutered, it was at least two days before he was feeling better and eating more normally. I'm sure it's at least a little bit of a relief to have the diarrhea gone and his poops back to normal.

I'm glad you adopted the little guy too. I always love hearing how he is doing. It was such a great rescue story, and he seems like such a sweet little boy.

I was sad reading about your Mabel passing. I'm glad you were able to be with her though. I know how difficult it is to lose them. We get so attached to these sweet little rabbits and they are never with us long enough. When I lost my Dash last year, I didn't think I could bear to have any more than the 2 I still had, now I have 11. Despite the pain of losing them, I just can't live without them in my life.
