I´m taking the boys to the vets tomorrow for their vaccinations. Is there anything I should be aware of, any side effects or maybe reactions they could have. Better to be prepared than panic afterwards.

I'm curious what vaccinations they are getting? My vet and the SPCA said there aren't any vaccinations for rabbits.

It´s the myxomatosis and not sure if they´ll do the VHD as well. I know that in the UK they are vaccinated for both but my first vet here told me it wasn´t necessary but I´ve now found another exotic vet nearer to me who seems to know more about rabbits and has recommended that it be done as there are cases in Spain so I´m not going to take a risk.

Bville, the vaccines aren't typically used here in the US because the diseases are almost nonexistant here.

Just to update that we´re back from the vets, boys are doing wonderfully, vet explained reasons why they should be vaccinated and it all went very well. She did say that they have had myxi cases already in this area so I´m glad I did it. She also gave them a general check up and the all clear. It´s my first visit to this visit who is rabbit savvy and I was very pleased with the results, this will definitely be their regular vet now.

Well done :) Sometimes they feel off colour for a few days afterwards but usually there aren't any side effects at all. Just note down somewhere when you had it done so you know when to rebook :)

I am so pleased with the new vet as the receptionist said they would call me when it´s next due. As well as that, I have little vaccinations books for each of them with details of what they were given and when. They were back to normal with no side effects so I´m well pleased with the decision to have them done.
