Update on my little bun bun !!!

His cecotropes are not runny anymore and but still a little mushy. He didn't have very loud gurguling in his tummy so I take that as the gas is passing. Also got him off his critical care, he was so hungry yesterday I felt bad (he was nibbling my fingers and smelling my mouth, because I had just had dinner). Once he realized he wasn't getting any food he went straight to his hay (he is very smart).

The only thing I noticed is that he is not drinking a lot of water on his own unless I put it in front of him or syringe feed it to him (he actually will sit and drink from the syringe so no stress is being caused by doing it)

I'm wondering if I could give him some very very diluted critical care so he doesn't get dehydrated?

I also started mixing timothy hay in with his alfalfa, he loves it !!!

Thanks everyone !!!

Hello Everyone !!!

I just wanted to do an update on bunny !!!

He has been on antibiotics and is doing really well !!! he is back to his happy hoppy self and as soon as he is off his medicine then I will slowly introduce veggies and maybe a little bit of pellets once he is used to eating veggies !!
He is on a hay only diet as of right now and I'm happy to say he has not lost any weight (actually gained a little bit of weight)

Thanks for all the help !!!

I never recommend feeding veggies under 6 months of age. I feed my rabbits a pellet based diet only. I have lost a rabbit to feeding it veggies before so that is a big no-go in my rabbitry. Goodluck with your rabbit!

Thanks for the recommendation!!!

Maybe I will start with the pellets first (again) and see how he does !!!

We are guessing (from what the vet told us) that he is 5 and a half months old so I will start veggies in a couple of weeks.

Thanks !!!

Before you do the pellet versus fresh leaf green thing, google Susan Brown DVM and read one of her diet articles.. she is one of the most respected rabbit vets in the country.

I have to agree with this statement. Pellets really aren't a house bunnies friend. The article (I think) Geoff is referring to can be read here and is very informative.

Glad your bun is feeling better. :bunny18

Thanks for info guys !!! I will definitely do more research before proceeding with either !!!
