Thanks for your comments so far. It’s just we have watched something move around her belly and she has got fatter. We just put it down to her finally putting a bit of weight on! We have 10 rabbits. That is enough haha ! We have got a nest box ready in case however
So when we found out mum was pregnant with first litter. Mum and dad were separated instantly. A week later she had the litter. The babies are now 10 weeks old. We noticed mum made a nest two days ago. Which we thought was a phantom, as it would be impossible for her to pregnant as we followed...
Thank you I am so lucky. For 6 weeks they are just so big already they bigger than my hands put together !
It did really make me laugh last night, not so much the neighbour I saw peeping out.
Thanks for you
So mum gets unlimited normal pellets and hay. Then when she Is with the babies overnight, she eats there alfalfa pellets which she loves and some of there hay. She gets a good variety. And gets a small amount of greens everyday.
The babies are pigs, they eat hay like it’s gone out of fashion...
So looking for some advice.
Our rabbit are outdoor rabbits. They are in secure cages. When mum had babies, we bought mum and babies inside to keep them safe and warm. When babies were 4 weeks, we starting putting mum outside during the day, as suggested by vet to give her some space. She had 6...
I love these babies more than anything. I have spent hours researching how to give them the best start in life. Just trying to do everything right. The best part of my day is seeing them! Officially an obsessed mum. I appreciate the advice.
That’s all helpful, thank you. How did you figure out what there weight should be ? I have one a bit lighter than the others. I gave it a little top up of milk via a syringe and it took it.
Thank you so much. They are just not interested in there old nest, they love the house. Mum can get in and out. Plenty of hay inside. I will just leave them then. Thank you x
So I put a wooden box in the pen for mum, so she could get up and away from them, as I could see they were annoying her. She also gets outside time completely away from them. Which she likes. But now they appeared to have re-nested inside the hut. But haven’t gone in there original nest at all...
Evening,
Just me again. So we lost 3 babies around the week mark, to severe injuries caused by mum.
We found putting mum out for the day and putting her back with kits overnight has worked. No more injured. Mum appears happier and babies are just over 2 weeks and running round like mad.
I have...
Update : They are now 8 days old! Appear to be doing well. Definitely some larger ones that I think will be more like dad (who is giant) as they have bigger feet and some smaller ones like mum.
That is what we are going to stick to do doing. Mum tucked them all in last night so I haven’t touched them or moved them. Just wait for mum to come in later and do her thing. Then just keep letting her out for the day ☺️
Thank you so much and thanks for advice. This has certainly been a tricky situation but I know it’ll be worth it in the end when we have beautiful babies. Mum is outside in the sun again today.
Thank you
So we had some positive news this morning, no more injured kits thank god. After following some advice given, we took the kits away. When she didn’t want to feed them, but there bellies looked pretty full. She stomped her feet at 0130 this morning. So I took them in and she fed them right away...
