    Itching/scratching

Thanks JBun, you're always a great help. This may sound a bit odd but I looked at her ears and at some of the dandruff flakes around her head and neck/shoulder area, with a magnifying scope used for jewellery that is 60x, and I didn't notice what appears to be mites but what appears to look more...

    Itching/scratching

Ok, thanks for the information JBun. Is it possible for only one rabbit to have mites? My male rabbit seems to be fine but my female is always scratching herself and has some scaly dry skin appearing stuff on the outside and inside of her ears. I also do notice what appears to be dandruff...

    Itching/scratching

Anybody...? Should I just retreat with Revolution and try to get hay from another source and hope for the best and if there is mites that become a problem again than treat when needed? Thank you

    Itching/scratching

Hi, I have two pet rabbits. My one female rabbit has always been constantly licking and grooming and scratching and itching herself for as long as I can remember. My other male rabbit doesn't seem to have an itching/scratching problem that is as severe although he still occasionally does...

    Revolution for rabbits

    Thanks guys

    Gut stasis

Try feeding a piece of apple or pineapple. Feed lots of fresh greens. Apple I find helps in most cases to relieve gas but there's a possibility it could make the problem worse if a blockage is present. Simethicone for babies/children is also good to have on hand and can be purchased without...

    Revolution for rabbits

I was recently prescribed the Purple Dog Revolution (5-10 lbs) for my two pet rabbits. I always believed that the kitten/puppy or basic cat Revolution was the recommended type to administer for rabbits as they have sensitive skin etc. However the Vet assured me it's all the same and would be...

    Please help

Sorry to continue to add to this, I can't seem to be able to edit previous posts. If mites aren't directly visible than what are the chances of them both having inner ear problems affecting balance? Is it possible for mites to not be visible but be deep in the ear canal and cause balance...

    Please help

Just an update I've checked Drakes ears and they seemed fine and I haven't noticed any signs of mites being present. Also, how long can Panacur be gave to a rabbit? If by chance I do get more for both Wayne and Drake, Wayne having just recently finished a 30 day cycle. Thanks!

    Please help

Thanks JBun I really appreciate it. I thought that ear mites could be the cause as well, as I did notice some stuff in Wayne's ear before, but it was only a little amount of stuff and was deep in the ear and barely visible. Would ear mites alone cause balance issues or would this more than...

    Please help

Hi guys. Recently my pet rabbit Wayne (female) was treated for a possible ear infection/EC. Her symptoms started as nystagmus and circling and loss of balance. The vet gave her some revolution to treat for mites as well, some Panacur for 28 days and a long course of Baytril. (10 days at...

    Loss of balance/spinning

Very sorry for the triple post, I should also mention that during the first few days when she was on Baytril she seemed to improve and her nystagmus and circling episodes stopped. So perhaps the Baytril is somewhat effective to the bacteria if infection is the cause? I thought, and hoped that...

    Loss of balance/spinning

It feels intimidating having to treat her with all of these strong medications and antibiotics as she is not used to it but I hope that they will be effective and that she will be ok. I've read somewhere that penicillin can cause death in 10% of rabbits. Is this true? I'm also wondering if I...

    Loss of balance/spinning

Thanks JBun, Do you think requesting topical ear drops may be necessary as well? I noticed some scaly wax deep in her ear canal that almost resembles an ear mites infestation. She is always scratching herself and bending around to lick her self everywhere. I'm going to inquire about...

    Loss of balance/spinning

Thanks. She doesn't like her ears touched very much so that specific procedure may be difficult but I could inquire about it. How would I know if this is something to be concerned about or if it could just be a permanent tilt that she has developed that won't pose any issues? I'm aware that some...
