    Beans

Beans was my very first French Angora and it only took a minute to realize that I would be falling in love with the breed. She was lovingly nicknamed "wide load" as she is the biggest rabbit I've ever had. Tipping the scales at just under 10lbs, she is the sweetest rabbit and a great mother.

    Captain Marshmallow

Captain Marshmallow is an English Angora. He has a grandsire who is a3-leg champ who is currently tearing up the Japanese show circuit [family is very important to Captain Marshmallow]he is bffs with our Italian greyhound and loves celery and apple slices. When he's not out rolling in the garden...

    Naaaaaaaame Thaaaaaaat Breeeeeeed!

Also, yeah, the weight. They are both still under 2lbs....and that seems pretty small to me...I was just curious if anyone knew what they should weigh.

    Naaaaaaaame Thaaaaaaat Breeeeeeed!

Yeah, the forging of papers crossed my mind [I had written a longer post but hit the wrong button and deleted it....whoops] I haven't had time to research too far into it and see. I'll have to get some measurements on them, but they are both what I feel is, too long for their appx ages and...

    Questions about rabbit and kit

Keep your eye on it, you should be checking 2x daily anyway to make sure baby has a fat milk belly and is doing alright. First time mommas sometimes have a hard time figuring it out, and some take to it like they've been doing it their whole lives lol! If momma doesn't feed the baby, you can...

    Is my rabbit show quality?

The ARBA sells an SOP guide [standard of perfection] for $20, it is a very helpful guide to use when looking at your rabbits and trying to judge quality for showing :) Best 20$ I've spent since getting into rabbits.

    Naaaaaaaame Thaaaaaaat Breeeeeeed!

So, I picked up a pair of "French Angoras" the other day, out of horrendous living conditions, shaved them up and gave them baths, ear mite treatment, and vitamins. They are very very skinny, and I'm not sure of age, the "owner" [I use quotations because if I could beat this dirtbag within...

    Nesting behavior when not mated?

Thanks Azerane. Still no babies today. Felt around and not sure she's any bigger....hasn't pulled any more wool or seems interested in her nesting box any more. Her nipples are bigger but I'm pretty sure this is just a false pregnancy...I just can't remember having any of this issues when I bred...

    Nesting behavior when not mated?

Well still no babies this morning so I'm assuming it's a false pregnancy. Frustrated because I had my hopes up that she had taken this time...neither of my does want to breed, it's frustrating.

    Nesting behavior when not mated?

I have no idea....my other doe had a false pregnancy before so I am aware it's a possibility. I have nothing marked on my calendar for that week except that I had wanted to breed them both. I've just never had a doe nest and pull as much wool as she has without kindling. Just wondering if anyone...

    Nesting behavior when not mated?

Will a non-bred doe nest for no reason other than you gave her a nesting box? I'm unsure that my doe actually bred though she was with my buck for a few hours. I palated and didn't feel anything, she's not any fatter and no colostrum coming in but I gave her a box for giggles and she immediately...

    Rescue Bunny 911

I need to weigh him and see. He had the wool and guard hairs or an angora and his face as well as ear position looks like my Frenchies.

    Rescue Bunny 911

I was wondering if he could be a jersey wooly who was sold as an angora....but from my SOP it's saying JW ears shouldn't be longer than 2.5" and his ears are much longer than that...I guess time will tell though.

    Rescue Bunny 911

As a rule of thumb I quarantine ANYTHING that comes home with me from auction for a minimum of 30 days...some things, like MG take up to 20 days to show up, and on top of being exposed to every other bird at the auction, stress can take a healthy bird and compromise it to the point that it picks...

What age do you tattoo your babies?

OMGosh! If you can get a clamp on them at 5 weeks, I'm sure my kits are ready now! lol I just feel bad doing it, but it has to be done! I wish my hands were steady enough to use a tattoo pen!
