    LUNA - E. Cuniculi

I thought it was only contagious during the first few weeks after infestation? After it makes it's way through the kidneys, it won't be shed through the urine.

Please help, what's wrong with my rabbit? :(

It does sound like she was pregnant so if she doesn't have a litter in the next day or so, I'd be worried. It sounds like it's time for the vet, if she has dead babies inside that she didn't reabsorb, she could become very ill.

    GI Stasis

Have you checked with the Small Animal Rescue Society in BC? They may know of somewhere to get some or someone you can split with. http://www.smallanimalrescue.org There's the Vancouver Rabbit Rescue/HRS chapter that may be able to suggest something as well, although they are a little far from...

    Canadian Rabbit Rescues

For Quebec, there's the Montreal SPCA https://www.facebook.com/spcaexomtl and Adoption Lapins Sans Abri http://www.adoptionlapinsansabri.com/ Le Berger Blanc is a for profit pound that inhumanely euthanizes almost every animal that comes through their door and charges astronomical fees to...

    Hay box ideas

If you're in Canada, Dollarama has these wire racks that hook on to shelves that can be hing either inside or outside of cages or enclosures like this: New Moon posted these two ideas on their FB using NIC cubes also...

    GI Stasis

His teeth weren't x-rayed but were they visually checked? When Chantale was in stasis she got to the point where she hated me and would hide from me and bite me when I picked her up. When I mixed the pumpkin in with her force feed she started eating it on her own (with gusto) and that helped...

    GI Stasis

If it's causing him pain it could be the cause of his stasis but the fact he doesn't eat a lot of hay doesn't help either. How's he doing today?

    GI Stasis

I'm not saying you should stop feeding pellets all together (I really don't like them but it's a personal choice and it also depends on the situation/individual rabbit) but it is important to feed limited quantities. I'm glad to hear he likes the hay, that will help him a lot. I hope he...

    GI Stasis

Stop giving him the rolled oats immediately, they could be contributing to his issues. Grains are too high in starch and calories and lack necessary fibre. He needs fibre to maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria and the oats encourage the wrong type of bacteria plus they are probably...

    Rescued Rabbits need homes

Have you contacted Rabbit Rescue Inc. to see if they can help? www.rabbitrescue.ca You should also contact Greenwood Park Animal Hospital to see if they have any other suggestions or any potential homes www.drmunn.ca Good luck!

    GI Stasis

If you can do sub q fluids at home, that would go a long way to help break up any dehydrated matter in his stomach. Are you giving probiotics? They may help also. I had a rabbit in stasis for the better part of two months and I found adding pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie filling) to her force...

    Help with a tilty bunny...

The diarrhea didn't smell at all, that's what threw me off. I had a bunny that died after she developed enteritis following a fire alarm (she had also been battling a chronic ear infection for months and had some GI issues) and when she had diarrhea it was completely different. It smelled awful...

    Help with a tilty bunny...

After I wrote the last post, I went to feed him and he had diarrhea. I tried to get it under control and got him somewhat stabilized but he just shut down this afternoon. The vet thinks he triggered his bowels emptying themselves out when he did a deep palpation at the exam. He literally lost...

    Help with a tilty bunny...

Back from the vet... He was really happy with his progress. The most pressing issues were concerns about his skin reacting to too many injections and that seems to be ok but I'm supposed to avoid injections as much as possible. He drinks a lot on his own and he's eating more and more veggies so...
