    Rabbit Licking

My rabbit Max just got over a serious case of GI stasis. He is recovering well but since recovering, I have noticed that he has started licking shoes. Mostly mine, but he did do the same to my husband while he was wearing his slippers one day as well. He has never licked anything before and...

    Rabbit Cut While Grooming

Why don't you send an email to your vet and include the photos you posted here. They can then give you advice on how to care for wounds or inform you if bun needs to be brought in.

rabbit going behind heater where is really hot

When I have gaps in which my bun can squeeze into and I don't want him in there I cut a piece of wire fencing I got at Tractor Supply and bend it to fit in the gap. It keeps him out of the gap. See 2 pics.

    Bunny needs more fiber-suggestions please

I've had my bun for over 3 years and he has never been a big hay eater. I feel like I've tried everything to get him you eat more hay. It's in his litter boxes, it's in both the living room and bedroom. I've tried all kinds but supply him with 4 different kinds daily. He loves veges and eats...

My binky was put to rest, please read.

I understand your second guessing what happened. It shocks me that the vet didn't make any attempt to treat the GI stasis. It is treatable if diagnosed early on but in the later stages, many buns die anyway, even with treatment. But...why not try? I wouldn't go to this vet again or if...

    Hairball caused GI stasis

Yes, you are very lucky yo have an experienced vet. Many/most aren't and then to be experienced enough to do the surgery. That vet is extra special!

possible gi stasis and no access to a veterinarian

Vet as soon as you can. Yes, Mylicon infant drops every few hours. If you have pellets, soak in warm water make a puree. Offer to bun in a dish. If won't eat, syringe feed. If you can get some Critical Care at a pet store, mix with water and force feed slowly. Puree like. You'll need to...

Can rabbits be left alone for a week

No. Please find someone to house sit and/ or rabbit sit. Rabbits need companionship and someone to monitor how much they are eating/drinking and pooping. The stress of you being gone may increase the risk of GI stasis. Rabbits love routine. Maybe a neighbor, coworker, friend with a teenager...

    PLEASE HELP!!! GI stasis (RIP)

I understand your frustration. Does he seem in less pain with the Metacam and Mylicon on a scheduled basis? If no, you've got to get him to a vet that sees bunnies ASAP. Any poops? If not, please take him back to the vet that gave him the fluids and rx'd the Metacam. Sounds like he is...

    PLEASE HELP!!! GI stasis (RIP)

That's ridiculous! Metoclopramide usually comes in a vial and after you draw up the correct dose, you can give it orally (just like the metcam) or even SQ (subcutaneously). It probably doesn't taste very good so I would mix it with the Mylicon or with a little baby food by spoon or by syringe...

    PLEASE HELP!!! GI stasis (RIP)

Pain meds first priority. Sounds like you got that and give it regularly until he is pooping normal. Continue with gas med-infant Mylicon. The vet should have given you something to stimulate his gut/bowels usually a drug called Reglan (Metoclopramide). If you don't have any, call the vet...
