Potential New Rabbit Owner - Help

Other breeds I would add to your list are French Lop and Harlequin, and as others have suggested, there are always rabbits of all sizes at shelters.

    Little help please?

That's good, hopefully she has made a nest. Let us know :)

What color are these Mini Lop babies??

Those babies look like they are only two or three weeks old. Give them some more time. Once they are about 5-6 weeks the color should be obvious. I think blue frosted pearl is a pretty wild guess considering the parents' colors.

    Brokens?

Yes. The colors might be a little darker/lighter depending on what you use, but that happens within the shaded varieties anyway.

    Congrats Megan! :)

    Brokens?

So you're trying to breed broken shadeds. You would do this the same way as if you were breeding a self to a broken. In fact I would recommend starting out with a self broken that might carry shaded and just breed it to a shaded.

My rabbit had babies and I have a few questions

She should have cleaned herself off, I'm not sure what the recommendation for that would be. As far as the babies, you should check them once a day to make sure she is feeding them. One of them will be colored and white like mommy. The rest of them will either be the same color as the dad or...

What type of lop am I?

Just on sight, I would say Mini Lop, but how much does it weigh and how old is it?

    Mini Rex Litter Critique

They all look slightly long in the shoulders and a little too weak in the hindquarters "for my taste." Ear is just about the last thing you should really worry about on a mini rex, especially at six weeks old. At this stage their bodies are very disproportionate, especially the ears. As long as...

    Can Harlequins throw torts?

I have heard of a torted harlequin, so it might be possible, I don't know enough about harlequin genetics to know for sure. I know that there is at least one harlequin breeder here, and many others that have worked with harlequin genetics, TinysMom in particular might know more about this.

Should the rabbitry become a private forum? (All May Vote)

I am a breeder, and I would very much like to see this forum stay open to everyone. Although it may get heated at times, talking about breeding and its more controversial topics is the best way to educate everyone so that we can all be on the same page. Talking it out is usually the best way to...

    What am I?

She is definitely dirty and her fur indicates that she was not well taken care of before. It would be a good idea to brush her every day to get her cleaned up. She is definitely a mix, I have no idea what kind of mix she could be, other than she will probably grow at least a couple more pounds...

    Showing Jr's

GorbyJobRabbits wrote: It's like with any other breed. Showing a rabbit that is too young is not good, so weight limits are there to keep babies out of the showroom. Babies that are too young usually do not meet the weight limit anyway.
