Double maned lionheads from a lionhead-lop and and holland lop?

It can be difficult to tell sometimes. Not all single manes lose their wool, but most do at some point. I've also had double manes that have so little that they look like single manes. We're talking more about the genetics when we say single or double mane, so appearance isn't everything...

    Can lionheads be shown.

Korr_and_Sophie is apparently more observant than me... I didn't realize you were in the UK!

    Can lionheads be shown.

They can be shown although they are not a recognized breed yet. They do have their supporters in the ARBA, though it is true that many shun them. But they are immensely popular and have more followers than many recognized breeds. Unfortunately your bun won't be able to be shown with different...

Stopping by to say hi! :D I'll have to read to catch up with what's going on, but it's nice to meet another lionhead breeder!

    The "True" Lion Heads

I wanted to point out that even if she was double maned, none of the babies born of this cross would be double maned. If you have babies with manes, they can only be single manes, because the english lop has no mane gene. Your breeding would have been a mm (father) x Mm (mother). The results...

    The "True" Lion Heads

Whenever I've shown my young single manes (when they still have a nice full mane) they've always beaten out my double manes. They were F1 generation, so they were half netherland dwarf. They had the better type and were cleaner, so they won. I've had more judges being sticklers for too much...

    Baby colors

So I'm still debating on whether or not that one of these guys is squirrel. Opinions? It's been lighter colored from the other chinchillas from day one. It is the one all the way to the left, next to the ermine.

What color could these be??? Baby pics!

For the first kits, I'm thinking ermine. I just had my first one and it looks just like that. For the second one, I'm not able to tell from the pics. :)

    Lionheads

Hi Z  I breed these little guys and I just love them. I FINALLY have babies in the nest box again and am expecting quite a few more over the next month. Hence I won't be attending the show, but I hope you have fun and learn a lot! http://darkhorseharbor.weebly.com

    My Lionheads!

You've got some very nice buns there :) I too like small ears on my lions. I have some that aren't big on mane, but have the type that I'm looking for. I can only work on one thing at a time though lol. I see you have a few of TLD's rabbits. I bought all Jen's breeding stock from her at the...

    Ziva is pulling hair

Congrats!! :) You should be able to pick them up immediately if she'll let you. I like to check mine right away for full tummies and to get a first glimpse of possible colors. I only pick them up for a few seconds. I've only ever had one doe that wouldn't let me do it.

    Tan Babies!

Aw, I love tans! I only ever had one. If I could find some anywhere close to me, I would have some again. They're so beautiful.

    Crabby momma?

Well I took a peek while she was distracted with her food. 3 rews and 2 torts :) It didn't last long though, she was eyeballing me the whole time and decided that that was enough lol. T.A. Bunnies, I've never heard of a doe doing that :O I hope I never have one of those!

    Crabby momma?

Two of my does had their litters just the other day. The problem is that one of them won't let me anywhere near her nest! She starts growling at me and then uses her body to cover up the nest. I don't have a doubt that she would try to bite me if I pushed the issue. I've heard of does being like...
