    Incessant chewing

Thanks for the advice. I agree that the teeth grinding is likely a sign that she's in pain. My rabbit's normal diet is a mix of Timothy hay, pellets, and fresh greens. Soaking all of the above in water is a good idea. The vet also recommended syringe-feeding her very watered-down critical care...

    Incessant chewing

As some of you know, one of my Netherland dwarf rabbits has been struggling with GI stasis and dehydration. I have taken her to the vet numerous times and am now administering fluids at home, too. Within hours of receiving fluids, she starts hopping around, drinking water, eating a few strands...

    Difficulty administering meds

Since my rabbit began taking oral supplements for GI stasis, I've looked up countless videos on how to administer syringes. I try to wrap her in a towel, comfort her in the crook of my arm, gently place my fingers under her chin, and pump the liquid in through the side of her mouth. However...

    Abnormal Behavior

I sincerely apologize for the late response. So much has come up in the past week. Thank you all for your wise advice. The morning after I wrote this post, my rabbit miraculously improved. She resumed drinking water, eating, defecating, and hopping around. Aside from a bit of diarrhea for a...

    Abnormal Behavior

I am very concerned about the health of my Netherland dwarf. When I opened up her pen this morning, she didn't come out of her tunnel like usual. She remained in one spot and refused to eat or drink. It's been the same all day. Although she has had a bit of water this afternoon, she has yet to...

Rim around rabbit's eye is red?

Thanks so much for the advice! Today I noticed that the rim of her eyelid is pink not because it's swollen, but because her fur is falling out. It's almost as though the upper rim of her eyelid is balding. Have you heard of this happening before?

Rim around rabbit's eye is red?

Hi there! Is your rabbit's eye better now? I just noticed the same red rim on my Netherland dwarf's eyelid and don't know whether or not I should take her to the vet. Thanks for your help.

Are respiratory issues common among dwarf rabbits?

Thanks for sharing your expertise. Luckily there is no discharge, and she's still able to function as usual despite her symptoms. The vet isn't sure what's wrong. However, this occurred back in February as well, so it's only been a few months since the last episode. I worry that this will happen...

Are respiratory issues common among dwarf rabbits?

Thanks for your input. I'm sorry to hear your bunnies struggle with similar symptoms, especially your Holland lop, but I greatly appreciate your advice. When your Netherland dwarf reacts to dust, how long does he continue sneezing and squeaking?

Are respiratory issues common among dwarf rabbits?

This is the second time my Nederland dwarf rabbit has developed respiratory issues. Although she is still able to eat, drink, and defecate, she hiccups rapidly and wheezes when she breathes. It looks so uncomfortable, even with antibiotics! Is this common among dwarf rabbits? I worry that this...

    Waterproof and chew-proof flooring?

I like the idea of getting textured linoleum so it's both waterproof and less slippery. It also sounds like the bunnies won't be able to chew on it if the corners are out of reach. Thanks for the input!

    Waterproof and chew-proof flooring?

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know where I could find inexpensive office chair mats? Most that I've looked at are over $100 for a small rectangle. Yes, my bunnies are litter trained, but they still like to pee in certain spots to mark their territory. Is that normal?

    Waterproof and chew-proof flooring?

If it can pass the test with a litter of babies, it sounds like a great idea. I will check out my local hardware store today. Thank you for the suggestion!

    Waterproof and chew-proof flooring?

Because my bunnies love to mark their territory, I need a slick, waterproof surface that will allow me to easily wipe up messes. However, I hesitate to use shower liners, etc. because many plastics can be toxic to animals. My bunnies also love to nibble on anything and everything, so I worry...
