    A very, very wet bottom

Hey RO, I've got an odd situation. My rabbit Cassie is eating fine, drinking fine, very active, and looks alert and playful. She's actually constantly attempting to dart out of her cage to run around my room. The problem is, though, her bottom today has been wet. I'm not talking "slipped and...

Change of heart on being in her cage

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I don't tend to intentionally let her out before work, rather, I try to always refill her water bowl and tidy up the cage a bit before I leave for the day. I can be gone anywhere from 8-13 hours in a work day and try to make sure she's all set. If I happen to...

Change of heart on being in her cage

Hey all! So something like a year ago I posted about my rabbit Cassie being disinterested in leaving her cage. It was very slow going but after several months she began coming out when it was quiet and no one was around, though only to scope out the 3 foot radius by her cage door before...

Encouraging a bun to start using a ramp

Hey all! I have not so much a problem, but more a question. I put it in this group because it's about her behavior rather than the cage itself. My bun Cassie is in a two level wooden hutch, but won't use the upper level. Like, at all. She might stand at the bottom of the ramp, paws on it...

How often do you empty the litter box?

Just for a poll's sake, I wondered how often everyone else cleans out their boxes. I try to aim for every 2-3 days but sometimes I wonder if that's not frequent enough! What about y'all? :) (an update from a previous thread of mine: i've convinced cassie to pee in her box and poop in it half...

    Urine big trouble, missy.

I have a vet coming soon (in another week or two), but aside from the emergency vet in town (insanely high prices), the only small animal/exotic vet in town is a mobile vet clinic. It's actually a bit frustrating that we have 3 animal hospitals in town and all refuse rabbits.

What do you feed and what is your feeding schedule?

I feed twice a day most days. In the morning, I give fresh water, refill hay baskets (timothy hay now, but I'll also give orchard grass if I have it), and about 1/2c mixed greens (red or green leaf or romaine lettuce along with an herb or two). If it's a bad shedding week, either 2-3 pencil...

    Trimming Rabbits Nails! Help please!

Cassie is a squirmer who will kick, and she hates being lifted or held at all. I try to lift, reward, pet for a while, then flip her over for nail trimming. After the first two feet she's so upset she's actually kicked/thumped me in the chest before. Hurts, but I don't let her get away and I...

    Urine big trouble, missy.

I could try. I'd have to shuffle cages because the one she's in now it wouldn't work, but I've got a smaller one I could use it for. But I've considered basically doing that and starting litter training from scratch. It's just not happening anymore and it's infuriating. She's started houdini'ing...

    Urine big trouble, missy.

I've posted about it once before, but I'm going to post again because there was no conclusion and it keeps getting bumped back. Cassie will not be litter box trained. I've tried anything and everything I can think of with her. Her pee looks normal ranging from kind of a melted butter...

Once upon a time she was litter box trained

Litter box is a pink plastic tub, roughly 1'x6", high sides. Her cage is a 2-level wooden hutch. In the bottom I have a rubber bath mat (the bottom is open, the bottom of the top level is plastic), I've had her since July, and I originally used Carefresh Ultra paper bedding and recently moved to...

Once upon a time she was litter box trained

Bringing this back because it's relevant still-- She's refusing to use the box. Any box. She'll pointedly pee outside of it, across her cage, and when I move the litter box (or add a second one) she'll pee outside of both of them. She still loves me, grooms me when I go into her cage to clean...

    tiny poop

As JBun says, you're lucky you caught it early (poo patrol is a very important bunny owner job!). Just keep it up with the hay and water and less pellets and if he doesn't improve/gets worse, be prepared to take him to a vet. Diligence is really the key here, and it sounds like you're paying...

    The Three Musketeers

This is the definition of what it feels like to be the only rabbit owner out of my friends and family! They're all disgusted my rabbit eats her poop and horrified I let her lick me despite that fact. What can I say? As a bunny owner, I'm usually pleased as punch she wants to groom me at all and...

    tiny poop

The problem with a solid blockage is that once you have one, they can be really hard to get rid of and, at worst, fatal. Don't give anything sugary to a rabbit with a blockage because it can only make the problem worse--ie. the fruit, carrots, pellets, etc. Make sure they mostly get roughage...
