Yesterday a friend that I havent spoken to in forever gave me a call. She had been in contact with a mutual friend of ours that told her I know a lot about rabbits. Well. She called to tell me she bought this rabbit and she said that the rabbit hadnt made a poop in 24 hours. I told her she needed to take it to the vet, and fast. She didnt have any money and I really dont have money to dish out like that. She lives kinda close and wanted to bring the bunny to me to see if I could help. I tried to tell her there wasnt much I could do, but told her to bring the bun over anyways because I was going to give her some Oxbox Critical Care. When she got there I couldnt believe my eyes, she had a mini rex! My weakness in bunny world lol. She looked okay, but her tummy was pretty bloated and she was sitting very uncomfy like. I massaged her belly for a long time and put her in the run for a bit because I read that just walking around might help with gas or a blockage if it isnt too bad. She wasnt giving her hay, which is just messed up and so I spilled all the knowledge I knew about rabbits. She looked at me sideways and asked if I wanted her. I wasnt sure really. I just got Ruby and wasnt expecting another bunny any time soon. I thought to myself, this rabbit is in misery and this chick has no clue what she is doing and this bun was probably in better hands, so I agreed.

So I have 2 buns now.

Her blockage - After I massaged her and let her run around a bit I could hear her tummy. I gave her a drop of gas stuff and massaged her some more. I offered her lots of fresh hay and decided if she didnt make a poop by this morning I would take her to an emergency vet. WELL! I woke up to POOP!!!!!!!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!! Now these poops arent the best shaped poops but they are poop! So we have improvement! My son Giovanni said he heard the bunny fart but I wasnt there so I'm not sure, lol. She is eating, and drinking (i put a bowl down for her, she doesnt like the bottle) and she was chomping on hay right before I left for work. I think we're good!

She is either a tri-color rex or a harlequin (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE COLORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), i cant really tell. I dont have the best pic of her either...

but here she is.. so far i've been calling her Coffee, i dont know why but she looks like a Coffee to me!!!

She is super young. My friend says she got her from a breeder in West Palm Beach, i'd like to know who, i would love to say something to that person. Mind you, she's had this bunny for 2 weeks now. I dont even want to think how old this "breeder" sold the baby. I THINK if I had to guess she's somewhere between 6-7weeks. I'm comparing this to a "Oops litter" my rabbit had and thats all I can really base it on, the size of them compared to her.

I am in love with her though, feels like she landed right in my lap!

adult size for mini rexes is similar to that of lionheads and holland lops (the two I have)... at 7-8 weeks, both my bunnies could sit comfortably on my hand - they were only 1/2-2/3 the size of that bunny. my guess would be that Coffee is 10-11 weeks.

*SQUEE!!* So freaking cute!

I think God sends bunnies to us to fill our broken hearts and mend theirs. You clearly saved Coffee's life as well. I'm not impressed with your friend, but you did a great job! Simethicone can do wonders for gassy tummies. Poor little bunner can't live on pellets alone. *sigh* when will people learn?

Thank you Brandy!
I'm not at all impressed with my friend either. She means well but I can just never understand how people dont do research and learn about an animal that they plan to own and care for. *shrugs* MY BUNNY NOW!!! lol :biggrin2:

So cute!!! I think that is one lucky bun to have crossed paths with you :)

Things happen for a reason. Congrats on your new addition!!
