My bunnies have been bonded for almost a year now. While I was letting them out for play time I noticed one of my bunnies neck was red and had some blood. I checked my other bunny and noticed a bite mark in her ear. I believe they fought but they haven’t ever fought this bad before. The one with blood on her neck didn’t have any cuts but her fur was pulled out (a lot of fur was pulled out). Not sure what to do.. do I separate them or what! They’re acting normal just kinda stand off ish of each other.

I think you have to determine if it was a minor scuffle and they're fine now, or if they're continuing to have issues and it could result in escalating aggression and injuries.

They’re acting completely normal, they’re grooming each other and even laying next to each other. I was examining the area today and it’s really red and I can see some faint bite marks. I do believe more hair is coming out because she’s been cleaning it. The size of the area is pretty big, it wraps around her neck. Is this common for bonded bunnies to fight like this?? The other bun just has a bite mark in her ear but it’s healing just fine. It’s just shocking to see bc I hate having them be hurt. I know bonded bunnies can fight but can they leave marks like that and still be bonded??

Bonded rabbits can have little skirmishes sometimes, but it will usually just be a bit of minor chasing or nipping, or some humping. The nipping could sometimes result in a minor scratch on the skin. But if your two are doing more serious bites causing deep wounds, you'll need to determine if it was a one time thing and they're still ok to be together, or if it's a sign of increasing irritation and aggression between them and that they would need to be separated for their safety.

Laying by each other and grooming is a good sign, but definitely keep a close eye on them, and separate if you feel things are escalating with them, and before serious injuries can be inflicted. Also I would suggest keeping an eye on any wounds to ensure they don't get infected. If the wounds are deep, if it seems like there's infection, and/or you have any medical concerns that there's an issue, it's always best to consult with and/or have your rabbit checked by a knowledgeable rabbit vet.

Where the hair was pulled is just red and has like one bite mark but it didn’t cut the skin. More hair had been coming out because my bunny keeps itching it and licking it. I have been cleaning the skin and I plan on cleaning my whole room to get rid of their smells. This is the very first time they ever fought like this, but I will definitely keep a close eye on them. I really hope their bond doesn’t break because it took me forever to bond them, and I’m not quite sure what I would do if I had to separate them. It’s just so shocking and I hate seeing my bunnies fight.

Had a pair of females that were bonded for 5 years, but started fighting for real, blood and all that other stuff, so we ended up having to separate them--was a bummer, but way cheaper than vet bills would have been.
Like what kind of wounds?? What I believe happened is my bunny yanked my other bunny’s fur out causing her red skin. There was also a bite mark but it didn’t cut the skin. There was some blood but not a lot, and the other bunny had a bite mark in her ear but it wasn’t bleeding and is healing great! I’m just curious how bad it was so I know if they need to be separated or not.

I've not ever had bunnies that drew blood to each other just nips and humping and chasing. I'd keep a close eye on them because they are fighting like this it might be wise to seperate them before something very serious happens. Keep an eye on them in the mean time hopefully its just a one off. Have you been in contact with any other rabbits recently?

Sometimes smells can trigger fighting if they smell another rabbit.
