People on here have suggested pine wood pellet bedding for the bottom of the litter box… My local equestrian center only had this brand. Has anyone used this before or know if it’s safe? Thanks!

Did you try it yet? Seems it would be hard. For horses they recommend fluffing it up with some water spray...

Fluffing it first would defeat the purpose when used for rabbit litter. The urine will wet it and break it down. That's how the odor gets absorbed. The wood pellets should be topped with hay. The hay keeps it soft for buns.

I’ve been using it. I cover it with hay. But my bunnies starting digging all the litter out of the box… I think I’m going to have to start using a grate cover on the litter box.
I don’t think these rabbits would like this kind of litter. This kind of litter works, but can splinter the rabbits bottom if it’s 100% wood. I recommend carefresh pet bedding, or newspaper shreds

NO. This will not and cannot splinter. It is crushed (like sawdust) and formed into pellets. It is fantastic for odor control and urine absorption -- much better, in fact, than carefresh and hands-down better than newspaper shreds which can stain feet and do nothing for odor. Wood pellets are highly recommended.

Im using the horse pellets now and love em! Cleaner and much more economical than the other stuff. Covered with a thin layer of hay its super comfy. Save your money folks!!
