Sudden interest in baseboards

We’ve had Snowflake for 10 mos and his interest in baseboards was pretty much limited to chinning the corners. We just painted our first floor (we moved his set up down to the basement for 3 days so the smell wouldn’t effect him) Ever since he’s nibbling them. Why do you think? He likes the paint smell? He’s pissed his scent is gone? Any successful ways to deter it? Picture of the culprit getting into trouble of another kind!

It could be the smell of the new paint is attracting his interest and he's just trying it out to see why there's this new change in 'his' territory. You can try things like rubbing a safe soap on there or bitter spray, but that doesn't often deter rabbits. Usually you just have to block access by covering it up with something. I've used those plastic adhesive corners for this purpose in the past. There are some other ideas in these links.

I replaced the base in the bunny room with tile. However, at some point I will have to replace the door threshold as it is still wood and has been nibbled over the last 13 years.

I'm surprised he hasn't started chewing or tugging on the edges of the carpet on those stairs!
