Hello everyone just a few hours ago I noticed that my rabbit was biting at the tip of her ear more than usual. So I went and checked it and noticed that the very tip of it is a bit red. I’m not sure if she is being too rough while grooming or something else may be going on? I also went ahead and checked the inside of the ear she was biting more at and notice she has this yellowish stuff inside it. Is this ear wax? Or possible ear mites? I’m a first time bunny owner so not sure. I will call the vet and try to get in ASAP but just want to check & see if anyone else has experienced this? In the pic you can see a little bit of the redness at the tip of the ear as well as the yellow stuff I’m talking about.

That does look like it could be ear mites. It would also explain the overgrooming she is doing with her ear. Occasionally you may see a bit of normal ear wax, and that's not a problem, but that looks like actual crusting of the skin. If it is ear mites, ivermectin or Revolution(selamectin) are the usual treatment for mites with rabbits. My preference is Revolution.

Thank you for answering! I just checked her other ear and it doesn’t have this yellow crusty stuff. Only this ear in the picture seems to be this bad. Is revolution something you can buy over the counter? Although I think I prefer taking her to the vet. Also, will this spread to other rabbits? And how could she have gotten the mites is she is indoor 100% of the time?
