Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing well.

We’ve adopted a 3 month old baby mini lop (female) from a friend whose bun had an unexpected litter. She was completely unprepared to take care of them and has asked us to take care of the a baby who she recently sold off but was returned to her. We’re hoping to take care of her and if all works out then we can bond her with our boy (Kakashi). Otherwise we will have to find another home for her once restrictions have eased.

Long story short, we have a 1 year old neutered boy at home who is basically free roam. we’ve brought this baby home and set up a pen for her. A few Qs:

Ofc we will be keeping both apart until she is spayed and has recovered etc, but when/how can we slowly allow them to interact under supervision?

2. Is it okay to use the same items for them both. E.g. use Kakashi’s pet carrier for baby also?

3. Are we going to be encouraging aggravation if when we allow her out of her pen she goes and play with Kakashi’s toys? Or if she poops outside of her pen, which I assume Kakashi perceives as his territory considering he’s free roaming.

I know buns massively go off scent so I’m wondering whether this will set him off. We’ve only just brought her home today and he gave us a big thump when he watched her in her pen.

Thank you for your hell as always!

You'll just have to watch and gauge their reaction to each other. Understand rabbit body language, look for the typical signs of aggression and irritation, and go from there. If either seems to be upset by the others presence, you'll probably want to hold off on letting them interact at all and take the introduction to each others scents, slowly. If they seem interested in each other, and calm or excited about the others presence, you may be able to move ahead more quickly with things.

Thank you for your help and the website link.

Does anyone have any advice regarding whether they can share toys and pet carrier etc. I don’t want my boy to feel jealous especially once he sniffs that she’s been playing with his toys
