My poor rabbit has a lung infection. Luckily, I was able to catch it and bring her into the vet before it spread or became a chronic issue. We're back to the schedule of giving her several different medicines/drops and putting her in a nebulizer everyday. I'm still anxiously waiting for the lab results to come back so we can hopefully narrow it down.

Good news is that she's still a happy bunny and doing binkies and tricks for me still. Unfortunately she's been hesitant to eat this morning because of her medicines, looking back I should of fed her first. She may need a fecal transplant if she still does not want to eat tonight.

How is she doing today?
She's doing fine. She's always been such a loving and happy bun.

The first few days of her medicines (she takes three in the morning plus her nostril drops and one in the evening plus her nebulizer) were so incredibly rough, especially the nostril drops. She never really minded getting picked up but she knew that when I picked her up in the morning I would put her on my dresser so I could easily administer it. I have a lot of scratch marks and one very deep one from her trying to jump out of my arms. One time she was successful but I was able to throw her on my bed so she didn't land on the floor. There was definitely a divide in our relationship, which made me really sad, but this morning she let me pick her up first try and took everything like a champ.

The vet clinic hasn't gotten her lab results back. I'm very anxious to know. She takes a type of antibiotic twice a day, probiotic once a day (this is from a pre-existing issue when I first rescued her), nebulizer to soothe her lungs, nostril drops to help with the discharge, and meloxicam which is for pain management and anti-inflammatory.

I rescued her as a feral domestic bunny. She's the sweetest rabbit I've ever met and I've even taught her how to do tricks. Makes me sad that there are hundreds of these rabbits around my city because people release them and they make babies. I've been feeding them any hay I can spare. It's a quite controversial topic though, some people are asking the city to poach them because they're eating native plants and luring more wild animals into city limits.

I'm glad she's doing okay, sorry to hear that she was difficult with taking the medicine. I absolutely hate it when people dump their rabbits. It makes me super upset!

I am so glad you caught it in time. Prayers she improves and the cause can be found.
I found and rescued her as an outdoor bunny. Unfortunately came in quite sick. The lung infection was most likely something she caught from living outside for so long. They noticed a bit of nose discharge when I first got her but they were not concerned because it went away with treatment after a month. I noticed a little came back and she started sniffling so I booked her an appointment ASAP. Paid a great deal of money for the x-rays and to send her discharge to the lab. She is worth it though!

Such a good bunny mama 💓 I will continue to pray for her!

I completely agree with you on that topic. I have a hard time with that subject. Makes me sick to my stomach.

What area do you live in? Are they domestic rabbits who are living like wild rabbits? I am sorry that is happening. Did you get your rabbit from a rescue? You are doing such a fabulous job getting your new rabbit in better health. How is she?

I live in Calgary, Alberta in Canada. There are SO many domestics that are feral now. Years ago people started releasing their rabbits. They repopulated and there are now well over one thousand, maybe even two. I was actually inspired by her and we are starting a rescue to get all of these guys into housing where they will be safe from predators and the elements. We are being supported by Rabbitats which is based in British Columbia, and we are working hard to start rescuing ASAP.
I actually just found her as a youngster in a parking lot. She was separated from the colony by a long long way and she jumped into my lap so I ended up taking her home. I really never ever wanted a rabbit but she's been such a blessing. Her next vet appointment is tomorrow so we will see how she does. She is still happy and active as always but I still heard her sniffle a couple times.

I am so sorry to hear about how many there are. I wish that a rescue could just go get them like they would with dogs in this situation (happened a couple hours from me, very horrible). I really am glad you are trying to help and that you took the rabbit in. I would have done the same.
