I rescued a bunny recently who is roughly 6 months, Iv had him neutered, he has a cat litter tray for the toilet which he uses inside his cage, iv been letting him come out the cage at his own pace but he wouldn’t come out so Iv gotten some carpet cuts which Iv placed round the cage and he loves it runs and jumps around, he’s had this for about 5 days, now yesterday he was pooping on the carpet which isn’t a problem but he also did a wee on the carpet? Will he always do this poop and wee? Even though he’s using the litter tray inside the cage , is there anything else I should be doing? Thank you

Territorial poos are pretty common-- especially when new to an area. He's just marking his new space. But he should not be urinating anywhere other than the litter box. I'd suspect he isn't fully litter trained.

How recent has it been since his neuter? It can take up to 6-8 weeks after surgery for hormones to fully dissipate. Lingering hormones can cause erratic potty habits. If it has been longer than that, then it could also be that he was given a bit too much roaming space too soon. That can also cause potty accidents.

The trick now is to be sure to get any pee spots thoroughly cleaned. They tend to repeat going potty in any areas they can still smell it and you won't want him making a habit of peeing on the carpet.

Thank you 😊 it’s been 7 weeks since his neutering , I have just ordered a rabbit pen so would I use that to limit the space and then gradually widen the area? Xx

That is a perfect idea! When cleaning up rabbit pee make sure you are using a distilled white vinegar mixture (1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water) because it will remove the smell so your rabbit will not go in that spot again.

What a cutie! I love the name!
