Hi guys! So im 12 and i have recently decided to start breeding and raising mini rex rabbits! I show rabbits at my country fair and take them to 4H. I would love to raise baby bunnies. I just recently had a litter. In the first litter I have 2 broken otters. In the second litter (different rabbit parents) i had 1 lilac, and 4 broken lilacs but the mother ate one of the broken lilacs.

You described almost the exact same thing some one posted on a hamster forum an little bit ago. That's just creepy. Also congrats for the babies!

Welcome! I got started in 4H, showed in 4H for 10 years. If you ever have any questions about rabbit showing & breeding, feel free to ask me.

The only question I have, is, during showmanship the judge asked what can disqualify a mini rex rabbit, i was unable to think of any disqualifications for ONLY mini rexes, do you know the answer to that question?

There are a few breed specific DQs for mini rex. Ears over 3.5 inches in length. Fur that is less than 1/2 inch or more than 7/8 inch long. Extremely low shoulders or extremely racy body. On otter mini rex, they are DQd for having a white undercolor on the belly (the belly undercolor needs to match the undercolor of the respective self variety) - otter mini rex is the only variety that calls for this. There are a few others but these are the most breed specific ones.

Thank you! I breed a lot of blue and black otters and did not know that!

Hi...since i also love mini rex (MR), i would like to ask maybe here got judges or old timer breeders can answer or give opinions.
Few days ago i had some discussions with my friends about density and resistance.
Is it facts or true tht dilute colors such as blue and lilac normally have less density and less resistance compare to dense color like black??...also the diameter of the hair shaft also bit smaller than dense color??...any scientific evidences
