Me and my sister just made an appointment at a spay and neuter assistance program for my bunny, Skylar. Skylar is now 6 months old. When we got Hermione spayed we did it at the same place but instead it was me and my other sister who made the appointment and my other sister wasn’t going to stay in this area for much longer. So we called the place and asked if we could do it sooner than the date they had or if they had any cancellations. The next day they called and said we could bring her in at 11:00 so we didn’t have to wait long for her. But with Skylar we have to wait until November 20th. I was just wondering if this was an average wait time for getting your bunny spayed or if my assistance program just has a VERY long wait time.

It depends on how busy is your vet, it was wise to ask if they can call you if they had any cancellation, sometimes it happens and if they know you were interested they will call you. At 6 months she is ready for spay it also depends on your vet, some vets want to wait a little longer. Also some people say that it is better to let your bun to go through that hormonal stage of their life before getting neutered, I don't remember all the arguments but some of them sounded quite reasonable.

In your case, if you want it sooner than November, just talk to your vet maybe they can reschedule

At the moment Skylar is about 6 months old. She has started chinning and got a little aggressive towards Hermione, so Hermione free roams my room and Skylar is in the playpen. I’m just wondering if Skylar will get any more hormonal behaviors or if she will change. Also Skylar is around 2-2 1/2 Pounds, do you think she’s ready to be spayed in three months. She is a polish rabbit so she’ll stay small.

Also, for others, how long was your wait time to get your bunny spayed or neutered?

I didn't have to wait long to get Theo neutered. I called the vet and scheduled an appointment for the next day.
