After a long struggle I finally got my pair bonded I took them in for a checkup and nail trim and to have a small lump checked out on Zeke, vet said it looked like an abscess likely nothing but she wanted to remove it and biopsy to be sure. I can only take Zeke and he will he boarded for the day should I still bring his mate on the car ride? Any advice on reintroduction after? Anyone have an experience they can share? They love each other dearly now but the bonding process was miserable i just might cry if I had to do it again!

Hi, it is advised that you bring them both, because when one will be away for a day and then comes smelling like vets it can disturb their bond, since they are now bonded they should go everywhere together, that was largely discussed on this forum many times. Good luck!

Is that vet not allowing both? That is not wise on the part of the vet. A savvy vet would allow both to be brought in so that they can be together before and after the procedure. This seems rather off to me... perhaps the vet isn't all that rabbit savvy. A whole day apart is not a good idea.

Thanks for the responses, she’s the most recommended in my area for rabbits actually. We recently moved so she isn’t who had been caring for them, it sounds like he made need a couple of sutures and she has concerns of having them together in that case, where his pal might try cleaning or pulling at them? It’s the first time they’d be together post surgery my second bun was fixed when we got her.
Does that sound normal to anyone? Thanks for taking the Tim’s, I really appreciate it.

Even if they could be in side-by-side (or nose-to-nose) carriers immediately after the surgery (at the vets), it would still be better than the one being left at home. That way there shouldn't have to be suture concerns. Btw, those sutures aren't going to disappear overnight, so what was going to be her recommendation once she came back home?
