I’ve recently noticed my rabbits poo has gotten darker (like black)
Does anyone know why? And how I could get them back to normal

Hi, what you feed them and what is their age? Mostly poos get darker when rabbits have too much pellets or generally their diet is too rich, or they don't eat enough hay. If you cut on pellets and treats and will keep them on hay and water for a few days their poos should get back to golden.

But there can also be health problems like liver problems etc. So we would be interested to learn about their daily food if their diet is fine then they would need some health checks probably.

i feed them a mixture of Romaine Lettuce, Red Lettuce, Kale, Celery, I alternate them each time, one is 3 and the other is 1, they have 1/4 cup of pellets per day and 2 cups of veg per day

How about hay? They get unlimited hay as well?
What age are they and how long they are with you?
What size/breed, are they in good shape or over/underweight?

And what pellets, name, ingredients, % of fibre, protein, calcium?

They get unlimited Timothy hay and meadow hay,
The 3 year old I’ve had for 3 years
And the 1 year old I’ve had for a week,

it’s the 3 year old poo thats black,

the 3 year old is a dwarf lop and is in good shape

the pellets they get are ‘Burgess Excel Nuggets with mint
Fibre 39% Protein 13% Calcium 0.75%

I’m in the middle of bonding them at the moment so they are in side by side pens

Can it be related to bonding, maybe your older bun is nervous about the newcomer and eats less hay?
Hard to say, your diet sounds good so I have no other idea just stress maybe. Is your new rabbit a girl or a boy and fixed?
Black just shows that he eats less hay in my opinion, but I can't guarantee of course. Please keep us updated if there's any changes. If you worry that it's too dark maybe reduce pellets and vegs
