My baby bunnies genitals were covered in poop. It took me a while to get all the poop removed. When i did his genitals are red swollen inflamed. He started pooping soft pellets and peed immediately after cleaning. I hadnt checked his genitals in a couple days. All the other bunnies seem fine. Hes 1 month old and they started eating pellets and hay about a week ago still drinking mammas milk hes trying to drink water to. Hes always been a lazy chill bunny. He escaped the other day i dont if i got into something i dont think so the bunnies room is pretty safe. Im going to get him to the vet as soon as i can. Please help me what can i do to help with redness and swelling help for pain. Please i feel like a terrible parent ive been watching all them so closely i feel aweful i should have caught it before it got to that extent.

It'd be great if you could post a picture! I'm always an advocate for going to a rabbit savvy vet! The swelling and redness is likely due to irritation from the caked fecal matter, although that isn't necessarily the only problem there could always be something else going on. Certainly continue to keep it clean and monitor for any changes.
@JBun will probably have the best advice or @SableSteel

I will post a pic. I dont have to many competant rabbit vets around but i do have a few that deal with exotics. Any suggestions on cleaning?

A damp paper towel is probably the best... no soaps unless you have something recommended by a vet or expert. An exotics vet will likely know how to help. Any open wounds?

A picture would really help! Any idea the nature or cause of the wound (a bite, urine burn, etc.)? keeping if clean is top priority, although it's very hard to know the severity. Is he behaving like he's in pain? Any changes to diet since you noticed the wound? Is he trying to groom it at all/

Yes hes grooming and just tried to nurse a second ago. A few seconds ans quit. Trying to feed him hay.

That's pretty inflamed... I wish there was someone on here right now with more experience with baby rabbits than me... I had a foster who had a similar situation when I picked her up and we were able to clear it up just fine by keeping it clean and applying Neosporin, but I wouldn't try that unless someone who knows baby rabbits better than I do suggests it. Is he being kept in a clean, dry area?

Is there a 24 hour vet you could call for advice over the phone regarding a safe ointment, such as Neosporin or A&E (we use it on horses)?

I clean cages constantly every few days. The other 7 babies are fine no issues at all. Momma has been taking care of them since they were born i got a rabbit run and two cages that i connected a few days ago. So they can go to run and to both cages. She needed more space they were stressing her out. So they werent all closed in the one large cage.

No not around here unfortunately. Its 1 a.m. and i can get the bunny to the vet to the morning. Just stressing right now. His genitals were fine on tuesday. I dont understand how it got this bad this quick.

Thank you for talking to me. I appreciate it. My bunnies mean so much to me.

Hes grooming himself at the moment and nibbled on a little hay so i dont think hes distressed.

I'm more than happy to help, I just want to be certain I'm giving the best advice possible. Things can crop up so fast, rabbits can be very fragile and so good at hiding things. Give the vet a call first thing in the morning, they will give the best advice. if he's grooming and eating hay he should be just fine until then, it doesn't sound like he's in very much pain and seems grateful for the help

You could call a 24-hour vet in another state or city (Seattle maybe? they've got some good ones) and tell them what's going on and ask for any tips until you can call your regular vet in the morning. Best of luck!
