Head tilt

I have two lionhead Holland lops named Lily and Cocoa. They are two years old and live indoors. I have two dogs who occasionally interact with them. This morning i noticed that Cocoa was popping really small and her head was tilted to the right. They did have some romaine lettuce about a month ago and about a week or two ago there was an e coli breakout. I dont know the cause of the head tilt. She sits in the corner and her eyes look glazed over. She will be going to the vet tomorrow but what can I do until then?

She may have some type of infection of the ear or dental problems(those are common causes of head tilt) but one won’t fully know until a full examination. Try to keep them comfortable as possible. Pet and reassure her a lot. Is she losing her balance a lot? Eat and or drinking?

Do you have an emergency vet to go to today? The sooner she begins treatment, the better her chance of recovery.

There are a number of possible causes of head tilt. Worse case scenario is central vestibular disease. My rabbit was at the vet's within an hour of the first sign of head tilt. We still couldn't save her. In 3 days she went from this, to this (even while getting treated)...

There are no emergency vets near me that treat rabbits. She seems to be balancing fine. She is drinking water but only one sip at a time. Her sister seems a little off balance but has no head tilt.

I called all the emergency vets that are open and none of them see rabbits. I have to leave for about 4 hours in a little while. Will she be ok while I'm gone?

I got her to the vet this morning. She has an ear infection. Cocoa also had a 106 fever. The vet prescribed three different medications for it. Hopefully she is feeling better tomorrow.

Thank you but unfortunately it was too late. She passed away Tuesday night. We dont know what happened. We had people over so I moved her to my room and stayed with her for the night. She was sitting with her butt really tucked under her. Cocoa mostly stayed in her litterbox which was a small animal carrier filled with bedding with the door removed. She started to fall over but would catch herself for about 2 minutes. Them she laid down and stretched out, still holding her head up, like she would on a normal day. After about a minute, she completely fell over on her side and started shaking. She did this for about three minutes before her heart stopped beating. What could have happened?

I’m so sorry to hear that your sweet bunny Cocoa passed away. Maybe they had a seizure? You should contact your Vet and let them know what happened...
