Hello fellow rabbit lovers!
My female rabbit got bit by another rabbit during a meeting session. The bunnies are no longer with each but the bunny that bit her got her pretty good. He bit her on her ear and took a bit of skin out but didn’t puncture through her ear thankfully. I shaved around the wound to get a better look and I cleaned it out with some warm water. It’s been almost two weeks and it has a hard crusty layer over it. Is this just a scab or should I be concerned? Is there anything else I should be doing?
Here are pictures (I’ll try to get better quality pictures tomorrow)

Thank You! :)

Hi, you can make compresses with salt water, it really helps.
I foster a girl she was badly damaged by other two rabbits, her back was all covered with bleeding wounds, some of them were about one week old and really needed attention. Here's one of the biggest ones after one week treatment. I was holding her on my lap and keeping a compress on her wounds and talking to her. She was so stressed and scared and her wounds looked so bad, but now she's fine and no sign of them and her fur grew back. That was about 2 months ago.
Also I used strong herbal teas yarrow, sage are great for open wounds.

Does the compress help to soften the scabs or close up wounds?
My rabbit somehow and somewhy has scratched his ear to bleeding/ crusting point sometimes, for no apparent reason ever since he's been with us,
But the crusts in his ears won't settle down because he, our restless lop, keeps scratching them over and over again.
What might be the cause of it?
Is it some kind of underlying health issue or just nails grown a bit too long and pointy?

Sounds like ear mites :) take him to a vet if you can if it’s not ear mites because it most likely is an underlying issue

Unfortunately i cannot take him to the vet since there are no rabbit friendly vets nearby and the traffic is poor. My parents, however, don´t seem to be worried about my rabbit´s ears.
Although i´m not sure if they are ear mites. They are and are and then disappear, maybe apppear or not in another location of the ear. They just feel like regular crusts that anyone would get after scratching some patch of skin until it bleeds. They don´t look reddish in color or infected in any other way. Also, i haven´t noticed anything bulging, moving or crawling around in his ears either.
I´ll see if i can add a picture tomorrow. Would that be helpful?

Salt water cleans wounds and helps faster healing. However there is some criticizm on using it but always works for me since I was a child and grew up by the sea I noticed that my wounds heal really fast when I go swimming.
Also salt helps with many other things like allergies etc. Pharma companies usually say that's just a myth.

I'm sorry for the poor quality but he kept hopping around so i wasn't able to get a clear picture.20191023_160011.jpg 20191023_160056.jpg 20191023_160207.jpg

Hmmmmm... his ears look pretty clean.
Every bun parent should have some Vetericyn in their bun kit.
You can get it al Walmart. I have found the spray gel to be magical! And on humans too!!!!
I would reach out to a vet and just talk to them about it. Do you have a bunny rescue nearby? Sometimes they can help with things like this when someone can’t get to a vet and so on. They can also help with meeting sessions as they have a lot of bunnies and know their personalities really well.
Bunnies can go downhill very fast. Not saying this will happen to your bun but you are right in being concerned.
Thanks for loving your bun! Safe to say the meeting sessions are over with that other bun?

We don't have walmart in Estonia, neither a bunny rescue. But what meeting session? Is it about the original comment?

It could also be fleas. I had that problem with my rabbit when she was going outside. Dose your bunny go outside or near any animals that do go outside? @Catlyn
Yes we let him outside occasionally in fall and quite often in warmer periods. There are no other animals nearby(well, a loud dog 20m away but still i do not think fleas can go so far.
Is it possible for him to have wax build-up?

He can get fleas just going outside. The fleas are there, there doesn’t have to be other animals around.

What do the fleas look like? Like small annoying flies?

And even if they could be fleas, what would be the best way to get rid of them?(i don't have access to the vet)
