My rabbit has had trouble breathing for the past two weeks and they think he has pneumonia and nasal problems from “snuffles”. He’s on penicillin shots every day, albuterol (through a nebulizer), and Meloxicam oral. Now, 9 days into antibiotics, he has a slightly bloody nose. I look in his nose and see this (pic attached). I’m freaking out. He’s still eating and pooping but having so much trouble breathing. Someone please help, my emergency exotics vet is out of the office and my other vet is closed!

I'm not sure there is anything you can do but get to the vet first thing in the morning. I would also suggest maybe asking your vet about trying zithromax instead. It seems to be an effective antibiotic in treating respiratory infections in rabbits, though that does depend on the bacteria involved. If I had a rabbit with pneumonia, it's what I would want my rabbit to be put on. Just be aware though, in some rare instances it can cause severe digestive upset. I really hope your bun is going to be ok.

Is there any update on your bun?
