Spayed rabbit not eating

Hi,
Our sweet bunny was spayed today and is so sad. She hasn’t eaten any hay and I haven’t seen her drink anything. I offered her some banana and she had a tiny nibble but not much at all.
When should she start eating/drinking? I’m so worried

She just had a little bit of a leaf and a tiny nibble of a banana. I fed it to her by hand and she took a bit, it had been next to her for about half an hour and she hadn’t even looked at it. Still no hay amor water though. She did a tiny wee but still no poo. Will phone the vet first thing if she isn’t eating. Thanks for responding @Niomi

If she isn't eating fairly well by the next day(today) then the vet should give you some recovery food mix to syringe feed her. The vet should have also given you pain meds to give her at home for the first few days, usually meloxicam twice a day(0.3-0.6mg/kg). If they didn't then I would request some. This was a major surgery and pain meds are definitely called for.

If she is nibbling a bit, I've had the best luck getting them back to eating by offering leafy greens like green/red leaf or romaine lettuce, parsley, cilantro, carrot tops, etc. Usually it's best to stick with ones they are already used to eating. I will offer as much of them as they are willing to eat, until they start munching on their hay and pellets as well.

I was given pain killers which she’s had but she still isn’t eating. I’ve given her some water using a syringe and I’ve phoned the vet.

She looks so sad. Thank you, hoping she’ll pick up soon, feeling so worried at the moment

She’s still not eating and the vet has said I should give her some critical care. She’s 1.2kg- do I give all 3tbsp (and 6tbsp of water) in one go? Or do I have to spread it out throughout the day?

See I knew this when I got mine spayed and I asked for some meds and he refused because he said that she wouldn't need them. But it took her two days to start eating on her own and I called after 24 hours of not eating and he said it wasn't anything to worry about. Never again will I take my rabbits to him. Sorry for jacking this thread but for anyone in the future reading this always ask if they are going to give them pain meds if not then GO TO A DIFFERENT VET! Any rabbit-savvy vet should know to give pain meds.

I think how a spay goes is case by case. I have had a couple of females that a spay did not bother them. I was told that I needed to keep them calm and not let them run a play which was almost impossible. I also had a female that did have a hard time. She was overweight and it was a more difficult spay. Some vets give Reglan to get the rabbit to eat after a spay. That again is something some rabbits should have and others don't need. I agree that you need a different vet.

She’s been taking the critical care throughout the day but still wasn’t really eating so I took her back to the vet today who checked her over and was happy with how she’s doing.

She’s eaten a few leaves tonight and I’m going to stay with her to keep an eye. It’s so horrid, she just looks really sad... I feel so guilty even though I know it’s important.

Thank you. It’s 3:40am here and I’ve only just left her but just so happy she’s feeling a bit better.

Hello, how’s your bunny doing?

I would love to hear your experience after ur bunny got spayed. How long did your bunny sulk? Did she sulk tho?

My bunny got spayed 3.5weeks ago; she is now fully recovered and her bare tummy has growing hair too. She licks our hands already... BUT she is still super sulking despite her having all her favorite food and toys at home; and NO CUDDLE yet. So I become worried how long till she’ll get back to her cuddly self...
