Hello! I posted yesterday about a kit who has unfortunately since passed away. I have her brother now and I believe that he’s been dealing with gut stasis after the stresses of transport and weaning. He was very bloated yesterday - he’s been getting .2cc simethicone, benebac, and pedialyte every 3 hours and a critical care slurry every 4 hours. He has been passing loose stools. He is still very lethargic and dehydrated - I intend to give him subQ fluids later today if he doesnt look better. The local rabbit vets are all either booked or out of the office until Friday. What else can I do? Are there any pain medications that I can give him without a prescription? I have phenylbutazone on hand but I could find no info on that. I would really like to help him have a fighting chance. Thank you!

EDIT: I’ve also been giving b12 to help stimulate appetite.

Can you get any hay into him at all? I had 2 with gi stasis that would not take Critical care. I would wrap strands of hay in a piece of dandelion or other green and sit on the floor and feed them that way.. it took about 2 weeks before they were eating normally.

Thank you for your help, but he passed this afternoon. Fingers crossed on the last little one making it. It’s so frustrating when people take these delicate creatures from their mothers and basically give them a death sentence no matter what people do to try and help them pull through.
