I took Binx in to get neutered yesterday and he started eating and drinking water like normal right after and his poop is normal as well. Butttt. He won’t really let us look at the incision site so I try to whenever he is laying a certain way and standing up in his cage (he’s a curious one). I got a good look just now and there’s a black/brown bulge in the area of the incision.

I just want to make sure this is normal? Perhaps a large scab? Or poop stuck?

Also, he’s been trying to lick it a couple times a day and even bite it but I can’t tell if he’s just grooming and/or eating his cecotropes. I’ll attach a picture.

We have a follow up appointment on Saturday but I’m a protective mamma and want to give him the best, healthiest life.

Please let me know!

Binx’s Mom,
Samantha

I haven't neutered my boy yet but curious if you've googled pictures of a healthy incision site for buns? That's what I always do when I'm unsure! I wonder if it could just be the skin. I don't thiiink it looks like poo...

There shouldn't be any sort of bulge. I would suggest phoning your vet in the morning and telling them what you saw. In the meantime you'll need to keep an eye on your bun to make sure he continues to be alright and doesn't try and chew at the incision. If for any reason he starts to show signs of deteriorating or not doing well, I would suggest seeing if your vet has a 24 hr. number and phoning that if you feel you need to bring your bun in immediately.

Thank you for replying! Yes I’ve googled everything lol. I always do. But I saw nothing like what Binx has :(

Thank you Jenny! I’ll be calling them the minute they open today. And luckily my boss’s family is out of town so I have been able to keep a close eye on him all day.
