How do i get one of my bunnies to stop chewing on cardboard i tried to give him like 3-5 minute timeouts in the cage which stopped him abit but he still chews on it abit can i get like some tips on ways i can prevent this chewing habit?1549495917087.jpeg1549495905367.jpeg

You'll never be able to stop it! Cardboard is really good fun to chew, and is the only material my bunny will chew. She can destroy a massive box in days. Why do you want to stop the chewing? They enjoy making their own little hideyholes and renovating the place.

They keep trying to destroy their play house

Yes rabbits will definitely do that to a cardboard playhouse. It is really good enrichment for them. If you want to provide an indestructible house it will need to be made of plastic or wood (if they aren't wood chewers)m or you can just keep providing lots of cardboard boxes like I do for mine.

Let them have their fun. That's the whole point of using cardboard boxes. They're fun for the bunnies to rip apart, and they are free(or nearly) and easily replaced. So let your buns have fun chewing and shredding their box, then when it's been ripped apart too much, replace it with a new one.

I always save cardboard boxes -- plenty from Amazon ;) -- for the rabbits.

Wal-Mart and other stores will often allow people to take their used cardboard boxes too -- if you go there when they are re-stocking (usually 11pm). There are cart-fulls of broken down boxes they typically allow you to take.

As the others have said, let the bunnies chew them up!! They have so much fun. (Also, please don't use their cage as punishment with time-outs. You want them to like their cage!! not despise it.)

I think it's normal, they're rabbits just get more boxes and let them to have fun!

I think our grocery store has some boxes but idk
If you don't see any, you could ask. I went to the store today and I grabbed some empty ones right off the shelf. They didn't say anything about it.

When I think she is being too lazy, I just move the cardboard around or put new ones.... of course she has to inspect every one and chew them to see which she prefers to shred :)

I seem too now have too much cardboard now because of how much we get so often from pop or food so I put the extra cardboard in garbage bags and put them on a hanger into my closet
